Not a "mover" per se, but extremely adept at taking the string off punches in very close quarters and knowing how to blunt an opponent's aggression. In fact, that really is Toney's best skill. Guys that came swarming straight at him found themselves getting slipped and tagged repeatedly with counter right hands. Maybe Tyson steamrolls in a couple rounds. If he doesn't and the frustrated version of Tyson emerges, Toney could easily seize control with his skill. Tyson never had a plan B.
Maybe, maybe not, it's all speculation. BTW, there was much more to Tyson than just swarming. He was a top notch boxer with exellent skills above all else. P4P #1 for a reason.
If Lights Out had half the dedication of most fighters his resume would be untouchable. He's a lock for the HOF despite being a ****ing slob....respect.
I think "top notch boxer with excellent skills" is inaccurate. Tyson was a bob and weave power puncher with no jab speak of and really no plan B if couldn't bomb you out. His style was very effective and suited his body type, but Tyson's main weapon was his ungodly power and his willingness to constantly attack. Most fighters withered under his speed of delivery and that crushing power. When the invincibility was gone, Tyson did not have the skill set to adapt and adjust. He stuck to this formula for his entire career much to his detriment. It worked against his lesser opposition, but he struggled when in with truly skilled boxers. See Douglas, Holyfield, Lewis, and even some in the Ruddock fights. That's why I think Toney would have possibly given him trouble.
Complete nonsense. No, he'll get in the HOF mainly for his achievements before he started having weight issues. so stfu you mindless noob.
tyson would kick is asss, guys cant belive you even think he would beat mike, lmao:rofl, nexttttttttttttttttttttttttt
I couldn't understand everything that Toney was saying. He is punch drunk. He should stop fighting ASAP.
I understand the "logic" some are trying to use but "prime" Tyson? Tyson of the Spinks fight ****s Toney up, no doubt in my mind.
You guys who mock Toney's statement, are forgetting this logic... Toney beat Holyfield in '03 Holyfield beat Tyson in '96 & '97 Tyson beat Holmes in '88 Holmes beat Ali in '80 Therefore, Toney beats Tyson, Ali & Holmes! :rofl
