the funny thing is though that most of Randys losses are KO's Toney can punch and now has less glove maybe toney has more of a punchers chance than i think

He actually looks pretty good. I will say my interest in this fight has gone up some but still, I don't see how he can win without a wrestling background.

James is gonna surprise A LOT of people. He may not win.....but he sure as hell is gonna make his statement. He'll earn his respect win, lose or draw. he gets props for LOOKING for this kind of challenge in my book. He's got a mentality of a "TRUE" fighter. This is out of his element and it's a big challenge yet he's going all out and looks to be in great shape. Randy better be on his "A" game b/c Toney looks to be on his. IT'S A PROBLEM! I hope James wins!!:yep

If it was against Liddell I'd bet probably $500 on Toney. Liddell's a bar fighter who likes to slug it out.

It is an interesting fight. Standing up James has the advantage of course, but on the ground he has no chance. It will be the typical fight for awhile, but once it goes to the ground how can James win? Experience alone is a big factor.

Liddell also has zero chin. Dude has his strength and can still kick hard enough to break your arm but he cann't take a punch anymore. James could land on him because Chuck is too set in his ways to fight defensively.

You never know. Either way this fight is not going the distance. Toney by KO or randy by submission in the first round or ground and pound. Will be exciting while it lasts. It will be as funny as anything to see james submitting couture.

I can just imagine the post fight interview now.

    'Burger King baby, BK'.

anyone who doesnt expect toney to be in shape is an idiot.. it really bugs me for people to say "maybe toney is actually training, maybe toney is actually in shape"

OF COURSE HE IS! its not hard to seperate hype from truth. toney is training twice a day, hurting people with bodyshots through thick padding. hes learning submissions and takedown d. he's a legendary fighter, hes not just a boxer he's a fighter. if he hits randys old ass in the body, he will probably put him in the hospital

Liddell has a Division I wrestling background. He started out as a karate guy in his youth. However, you could make the argument that more than anything he's a wrestler who started kickboxing after college. That would be an oversimplification but it wouldn't necessarily be incorrect. He also has a purple belt in BJJ under John Lewis. Or he did years ago. He might have progressed since then.

I just saw the 3rd match up with Randy Couture vs. Lidell on Spike. Now this was when Couture was 4yrs younger. I always believed Toney would beat Couture and watching his 3rd fight w/Lidell just strenghtens my opinion of Toney winning with a KO. He was 4yrs younger in this fight and he was slower than a 60 yr old. Stalking straight in legs and body squared up throwing a lazy jab and slow right hand. Toney will take advantage of Coutures coming in like that and KO him.

Everybody keeps saying Randy is too smart for Toney, he will not stand with him he will take him down w/ease, etc. But this will not happen, because he is an older fighter set in his ways. The reason I mention the Lidell match is because Lidell is one who only has a chance when standing and striking. He does not have much of a chance doing anything else. So what did Randy do in his 3rd fight against Lidell, not long after he got ko'd in the 2nd fight? He stood and fought with Lidell.

He stood and fought w/Lidell in all 3 matches with him. If he was as smart of a fighterr as everyone says he would not of stood and fought Lidell in all 3 fights. If Couture was not smart enough to not stand with Lidell, then he will probably be dumb enough to stand and fight with Toney. Even if he stands with him for only a short period he will get ko'd.

Couture just doesn't have the quickness anymore to shoot quickly to take JT down and that is the only safe way to take Toney down, shoot in very quick and get him down. Any other way such as getting close in a clinch will be a big mistake because Toney is such a good inside fighter.

Plus Couture is just too slow with his hands and movement. Couture likes to settle in while trying to get close to his opp by throwing a jab and right hand. He leaves himself very open to counter shots when he does this, but MMA fighters do not have the striking skills to take advantage of it. When he tries this with JT he will easily get countered and KO'd.

Basically, if Couture was not smart enough to come in with a different game plan (3 times) against a striker like Lidell then what makes you think he can or will come in with anything new against Toney. Even if he did train for a certain game plan once the fight starts he will revert back to his old habits and way of fighting. He is just too old and too set in his ways to make any significant changes.
