He's 39 years old FFS. Isn't he? He will never ever get back into shape, why do you think he's tested positive twice to steroids? These comments are starting to sound awfully familiar to the ones flying around about Tyson when he tried his Danny Williams/Kevin McBride comebacks. "if" he gets into shape. "if" hes motivated. It's not going to happen. If Toney could travel back in time to just after the Evander fight, stay in that shape, and make a run for the title (WITHOUT the roids), things may be different. Now? Someone is going to seriously hurt him. He may have a good chin, he may not get KTFO, but he's going to be eating from a straw in a few years if he keeps fighting in the shape he was last in.
I was amazed at how he ouboxed and countered the much bigger and stronger PEter in their first fight. Toney's speed and accuracy on those countershots was really something to see. But I think his future all boils down to his ability to get himself in a fighting condition. And you think that if ANY fight was important for him to make getting in proper fighting condition, it would have been the second Peter fight. But that all-important fight was not even enough to get him to control his eating/fat/weight.............I guess the bottom line is that he just can't do it. I guess he has little to no self discipline. Someone like Toney who has little to no self control and discipline makes you really appreciate a fighter, like Holyfield or Wlad, who is always in top, lean physical condition and does his best to be professional and do well at his job of fighting. re: Make fun of Toney all you want, IF he gets back in decent shape (220-225 lbs) he'll still beat most of the top HWs out there. To be honest, there's no way he can beat Klitschko though... Maybe this is true - but with Toney it's a case of waiting on this leading up to the fight ... he's likely to disappoint by either not turning up in shape or having the fight outcome negated due to steriods. He's like Golota who has a asterix next to his name indicating hims as a provisional contender. Unless Toney fights someone of note, I don't care about this at all. I'd like to see him against someone on their way up, not someone who on their way out anyway.
Toney was around 230 when he fought Danny. IF he was smart, he would have used his "vacation" to get into serious shape...running, sparring, etc.
Probably means he has started his own promotional org. just like Floyd, Vernon, Winky, Bernard, Barrera, Duran etc.....have.
First you make a thread saying Arthur Abraham is a fraud and now you hyping James Toney whose practically a bag of lard with a cigar. Stop calling yourself a boxing fan, cuz your a JOKE or better yet an attention *****.
