I just watched the fight yesterday, and here are my thoughts about it:

It was one of the worst fights I ever saw. Both fighters looked bad, and I mean really bad.

As a James Toney fan, it was especially sad to see this. James was even fatter than he used too, he is shot beyond shot, maybe not even 10% of what he once was. A caricature of his former self. And a perfect example of what happens to a fighter who passes his date of expiry.

Lucas Brown won this, but he just can't box for s*it. He may be big and strong, but any top20 HW should have an easy evening against this guy. Toney was here to get stopped in that fight, but Browne wasn't even able to do that.

By the way, the fight wasn't as one-sided as the judges had it. Toney still won at least 3 rounds, and considering how bad he looked, that should tell you enough about Lucas Browne.

Toney absolutely needs to retire now, or he will end up worse than Iran Barkley. At least he can claim to be one of the toughest boxers to ever lace em up -> 87 pro fights, 658 pro rounds and never been stopped or been close to getting stopped.

As for Lucas Browne, I expect him to go nowhere in boxing. Should he step up, any decent HW would KO him. Toney is just not a decent HW anymore...

John Pops Arthur needs to act like James' "father" and tell him to stop. He says that he has Dr. Michael Levy from UCSD see him every 6 months for brain damage and he's been cleared. I find that hard to believe. This guys been suffering from pan-hypopituitarism since 2006 or 7. This is from brain damage, not steroid use.

As I said. Just because of that fight I dont like Browne and his promoter!
They pay Toney to fight because they want some attention for theire **** fighters. I mean look at Browne he is terrible and wont get any attention because of his skills. So he has to fight a guy like Toney.
Why cant Toney work at a boxing gym? I bet he can teach A LOT!

I feel you bro. James is also my favourite fighter, seeing the man in action during his prime was a thing of beauty. Certainly one of the most toughest, and, on his night, also one of the most skilled boxers to ever step into the ring. Even more if you only take the fighters from MW upwards.

Still, I don't know why we should feel sorry for the man for being broke. He made a lot of bad decisions during his career, in- and outside the ring... and he made MUCH more money than we both ever will. I mean, James still made millions of $$$ AFTER he got beat by Roy Jones. I don't know if I can pity a man who wears a 35000$ watch - I will never have that kind of money, and if I had, I'd not spend it on a watch.
As for the Browne fight, don't even bother looking for it, it's depressing and a waste of time. I watched it at a friends who had recorded the stream.

When was he almost ko'd? I saw him buzzed in the 12th (didn't see the whole fight). Lucas didn't just let him survive in the 12th, he stayed out of range so Toney had a hard time countering him. That's why he was able to win. If he had fought like he did in the clips ive seen (and I gather is his usual style) he would have lost. James has poor balance and energy levels at this weight. His only gameplan is to lure his opponent into traps and counter them..Lucas stayed away from this and that's why he won..but he didn't look great doing it. Keep in mind this is the worst Toney has ever been. Im sure James took this fight thinking Lucas would come in would and try to knock him out giving him easy counters...also heard he took the fight on short notice(didn't receive much press in the us)? Can you tell me when Lucas was supposedly hurt and the ref was whipping off the ring mat, giving him time to recover?
