Majority picked him to win it.

    Povetkin is ranked #4
    Toney is ranked #5

Not that much of a difference

    Vitali should fight Toney.

Toney has been calling brothers out for years and lesser opponents have got their shot without beating anyone. Rahman actually got his shot after Toney made him quit

Toney deserves a title shot based on his ATG or near ATG (depending of which boxing historian you are listening to) status. He may not have done much in the HW division recently, but his accomplishments in 5 weight divisions speak for themselves. Every great champion gets a last shot at glory before riding into the sunset, why not Toney? When John Ruiz and Evander Holyfield got their opportunity, a certain Roy Jones fights Hopkins despite a first round ko!, you can clearly make an argument for James Toney!

I am sorry but this is nonsense. Toney had a shot to fight Wlad about 5 years ago, that is it. He has been crying to fight the Klits sisters for the last years, last time, early this year, as a late replacement but Wlad elected to fight Chagaev.

There is no question the Klits don't want to face James Toney. That is fact. Now, you may understand their reasons. But why fight Kevin Johnson and Arreola, guys who have beaten nobody in their entire career instead of ATG James Toney.Vitalo just destroyed a young guys in Arreola and Kohnson, are you willing to see this again. Anyway, he could fight that Russian later this year.

The Toney match-up has interested me....just because Toney has never been stopped, and VK has one of the highest KO% in history...

Povetkin is much better opponent than Toney. It would be great if Vitali v Povetkin happen in May.

I don't understand why even Toney fans are calling for this fight? Is it not clear as day that Toney will be on the receiving end of a one sided, merciless beating?!? For gods sake, he could barely get by Batchelder and Oquendo! Vitali is a feet taller. Now that would be overcomeable if he had fast feet, but his feet seem stuck in the mud, unlike Vitali's, who moved for 10 rounds against Arreola without taking a breather. If this fight comes off, then i'll guarantee you that Toney won't even land a clean punch the ENTIRE fight and spend most time lulling us to sleep in the same way Kevin Johnson did, but landing even less.

A Povetkin fight would be exciting - he might beat Vitali at this point - but i'd like him to take on Wlad during the summer.

And if you look a little closer yet you could also say they fought everything the division has to offer, every top contender just about anyone that was put in front of them save a few who didn't have the balls to step up to the plate.

The Klitchkos have done all that could be asked of them the only ones I honestly see worthy of title shots right now are Chambers and Povetkin, Chambers has his fight with Wladimir soon and Povetkin dosen't seem to want his oddly enough.

As for Haye let's see what happens with Ruiz before speculating further I for one am not sold on a victory for him there, not because Ruiz is that good but because Haye isn't that good.

Toney is too old and has a mouth too big for his own good, And as much as something in me would like to see him get KO'd I could see him get hurt against Vitaly and I think he's taken enough damage already.

    :good peace

Nonsense and you must be one shameless liar to say that, Povetkin was least favorite to pick it with many laughing at the idea of him fighting the "highly experienced"(according to almost ALL) Byrd because Povetkin didn't have enough fights. When he won it people went "big deal so what", isn't Chambers being regarded highly lately?, who gave him his first loss in the tournament's finals?

Pathetic editing there by the way calling me a hater, yes I admit being a hater of a loud mouth that hasn't backed a SINGLE trash talk in his **** poor heavyweight reign. To this day the only win his fans brag about is an ancient Holyfield coming off a loss to Chris Byrd and that happened in 2003. Call me a hater all you wish you know good enough all I mentioned in my "hating" post are facts regarding his recent resume and fights, did I make up anything?, **** no I didn't, if I did correct me rather than editing like a frustrated child. My hate is backed up pretty well and no one can argue with it. Is Toney even ranked in the top 10?, didn't he struggle against a tomato can recently in a split decision and BOTH were caught on roids after it?.

Any serious Toney fan should NOT hope for a Vitali fight, unless you're the one being the hater and wants to see him stretched out cold. His speech is already messed up, more punches and against a heavy hitter like Vitali and you guys are asking for his death or a permanent disability and as an admitted hater I wouldn't want to see that.

This is what i don't get either. I'm not a fan of the Undisputed Buffet King, but even if i was, no way would i want to see him fight VK now (or ever), because he's going to take the beating of a life time; anyone can see that. It's like a Barrera fan wanting him to fight Arthur Abraham so he can end his career on a "high note"... what the hell are Toney fans, sadists?!

Chambers status right now has nothing to do with this.
Chambers wasn’t regarded highly when tournament started that is what matters.

Byrd was seen shot fighter and not many believed he will win.
Ass for Brock I don’t remember what majority think about him.

Still Claiming that Povetkin was least favorite to win this tournament is ******ed.
(Hey maybe it was just your own bad prediction, that you are remembering here.)

I for one was almost certain that Povetkin will win , although I rooted for Chambers after the Brock fight.

Victories against Byrd and Chambers were good wins, but they weren’t upsets like you claimed.

I have countered/corrected your points about Toney numerous occasions. Usually when you are proven wrong you repeat same stuff couple of times and stop responding.

Then you go on to next thread to post same bull**** over and over again, even when it was proven wrong in earlier thread.

You see It’s almost like arguing Farmboxer about the Klitchkos.

Recently? It was three years ago and Toney won it easy enough. One of the judges was half blind and gave it to Batchelder but other two had it about right and gave it to 7-3 and 8-2 to Toney.

And yes Toney is ranked top-10 by WBO #9 and WBC #5
