James Toney on his way down to cruiserweight

Toney is done. It doesn't matter how much weight he loses.

 

I'll believe it when I see it but I must admit I like the sounds of JT working himself down to Crusier weight. It means he's dedicated and committed. But I'm afraid to think that he might be losing all of his physical qualities to father time. He's still the most natural boxer and skillful technician in the game...but he's lost a few steps and at least a half second in reflexes.

I'ld take James over Tarver at HW but can't call it at Crusier weight since I don't know how much that will take out of James.

 

The thing is, Toney already weighed 260lbs back in 1998 and then got his weight down to the CW limit (which was 190lbs then). But that's 13 years ago.

I think Toney is just desperate for a big fight these days. Meaning a big $ fight. He's broke. Even IF Toney could get his ass down to 200lbs again, which is HIGHLY improbable, he'd still not land a major fight there, not with Tarver and certainly not with Hopkins. And Toney is 42 years old, delusional and badly slurs his speech - I believe he's punch drunk and he should retire.

He should retire and ride off into the sunset as an ATG and a living legend, before he eventually gets knocked out in the boxing ring.

 

How people cant see through what Toney is doing is beyond me.Toney tries to **** talk his way into a big fight without having to earn it.

Watch some of his recent fights...Toney is ****ing done.

 

Tarver dropped tp cruiser.

 

He is already an ATG.

 

Well I hate to discourage James Toney from dropping to cruiser. He'll be a much healthier man if gets there and stays there, regardless of his boxing career.

If Toney cut that much weight then why wouldn't Tarver fight him?

I think Toney is capable of it (boxers fluctuate in weight like hell--consider bloated Tyson was like 290 but now he looks like a light heavyweight and he's also in his 40s). A healthy non-obese Toney would be under 200 lbs.

 

Toney has no fans, he shouldn't fight anybody anymore.

He's older and heavier now and people seriously think he can get down to cruiser. :rofl:rofl

Toney is done. He is no longer relevant in boxing. Not even as a stepping stone.

 

Toney's an old joke right now, sad to say.

One of my favorites to watch when he was good, but even if he gets in "shape" to get down to cruiserweight the years of mistreating himself will have slowed him down considerably.

Tarver would maul him at this point. Don't get me started on Hopkins.

 

He couldn't get in decent shape at heavy, but now is gonna make cruiser? I have to see it to believe it.
