    Even if Toney manages to get down to 200lbs now, it wouldn't be healthy for his body, and it would be too little too late. I don't think he can get down to 200lbs anyway, even though he looked in somewhat decent shape in his latest vids (he was badly slurring his words though...)

    Another thing, IF Toney really manages to get his weight down to 200lbs NOW, I will be pissed as hell.
    And here's why: I've been a Toney fan for many years, he's still my favourite fighter, but I can't even recall how many times he let me and his other fans down the last years by not showing up in decent shape to his fights and thus losing fights that he should never have lost. Or getting a draw. I always tried to give James the benefit of the doubt because of his injuries and so on, but if he can get into such good shape now that he's old and past it, it will be the ultimate proof that he was just a lazy undisciplined fatass who didn't care at all these last years, when it actually mattered. We Toney fans would have to ask ourselves then why he wasn't able to come into his HW title-bouts weighing 210-215 lbs when he would still have been able to make some serious noise in the division, like he should have...

    My guess is that Toney will get nowhere near the cw limit anytime soon. And even if he does, I highly doubt that Showtime will be interested in setting him up with Tarver. The recipe for Toney's comeback is clear: get the weight down and fight a few tomato cans to get back into contention. As Toney however is only interested in making big $$ these days, I don't think that we will ever see him in a boxing contest again. The "old school" Toney who was fighting every 6 weeks will never turn up again, that's for sure.

    Again, Toney has been cutting weight his whole career. His entire adult life is weight has fluctuated (very widely compared to most people). 200 lbs should not be impossible. It should be hard, but that's not even a slim weight for Toney anyway.

    I think he can do it but only he can motivate himself.

    I've always liked Toney and, up until a couple of years ago, thought he could still do some damage at heavyweight but only if he came in around 210-215, not 240-245. I'd like to be proven wrong but i think he's missed the boat and, although i think he can make the cruiser limit, i just don't see him having the reflexes to still be a force...

    I don't care how irrelevant it is, I'd love to see hopkins v toney.

    if hopkins can beat dawson and toney can beat tarver it'd be a good fight IMO.

    STFU, SPECTATOR!!
    Ain't no way in hell you'll EVER gain ANY boxing skills, ya lame side lines mouth piece. :lol::lol:

    Now for the serious boxing fans, this is GREAT news!!!
    I hated the fact that Toney pushed up his weight and let himself get all pillowy, attempting to get a big heavyweight paycheck.
    If he can get down to 200 and in good shape then we'll have another old schooler to keep the sport alive and exciting while the borefest that is the current HW division moves swiftly to ending this boring chapter.

    I'm not so much excited about seeing Toney-Tarver, cause that would be an obvious Toney win. No way Taver comes close to beating an in shape James Toney.
    Now, what I'd like to see is;

    Toney-Hopkins "The would be the fight of the year, but I'm not sure that BHOP would want to move up to crusier at this point."

    Toney-Bute "Toney would do to Bute what he did to Jirov, but Bute is less than Jirov, so I doubt it'd go the distance. But more realistically, I doubt that Bute would move up, since he doesn't even want to fight at his current weight."

    Tony-Froch "Froch should be able to make Cruiser. Toney would make Froch pay for his lack of defensive discipline. I doubt that Froch would move up since he is meeting the best at SMW and doesn't need to make a statement as much as Bute who so far, has fought no one."
