Toney never KOed Holyfield. Holyfield was up at 7 and his corner threw in the towel. He beat the count. It is a myth Toney KOed him, it never happened.

James Toney is another fighter that needs to seriously consider retirement, along with Hopkins and Holyfield. What more can he legitimately offer to the sport? Nothing IMO.

I agree partially as the Klitschko matchup is indeed a very difficult fight stylwise for Toney. Tall fighters who can punch, use their jab and jab do not suit Toney very well, especially at this point of his career.

I strongly disagree with those who doubt Toney's chin and his ability to go the distance with Klitschko. Toney showed throughout his career that he has a granite chin. He took some hellacious right hands from Peter that would have kocked most heavyweights out. He certainly has a lot of defensive skills to go the distance with Klitschko. All the talk here of him being knocked down by a jab is just laughable.

He can offer couple of more good fights and maybe win his second heavyweight title. :yep

Never understand why some boxing fans are eager to see legends to retire.

And Hopkins? He just lost a close split decision to pound 4 pound No.2 and he should retire?
Now if he wants to retire, I’m okay with it. But I don’t understand why fans of the sport would want legend to retire. :?

Toney showed in his last fight that he still has the skills to compete with a top 10 heavyweight. The only thing one should be concerned is can his promoter Goosen give him a big fight? Time is running out on and it shpuld be a wise idea for Toney to move over to Don King who has provided old legends in the past with one last big
    opportunity.

He maybe should consider retirement if he can't get that big fight even if he still has the ability to compete with the best.

In boxing when we say KO that can mean TKO, KO whatever...I won't argue that James did not put Holy to sleep. So what...??? Toney had pop in that fight and speed, had that fight continued Holy might have had immediate brain damage.

Holyfield is one of my AT favorites, but if it continued he would have been seriously hurt...and James didn't want to do it to him either...watch this clip following the fight, Evander had no protest.

James' moments after with Evander were some of the classiest of his career. Pure respect.

  8. I could only hope that fat,old ugly, Brain Damaged **** Toney would fight Wlad, it would be a pleasure to watch Wlad put Toney out of his MISERY..:dead

It's a "TECHNICAL" KO bro. Point is....no matter what you want to think, Holy's corner did him a favor bc James was gonna put Holy down one way or the other. Those body shots took a lot from him and it was only a matter of time before he got slept. Marg NEVER KO'd Cotto either....but you know....:good

I agree....but many said the same thing about George...if George didn't fight on he wouldn't have made history at 45. James has something else going for him.....he's got tremendous skill....he also has a BIG obstacle in front of him as well...he's the smallest HW out there.

Cotto quit, Marg did not get the oppurtunity for a KO.

Marg had 11 rounds for the opportunity, he just didn't get a clean KO, he got the TKO. To say Cotto quit is not right. He took a knee for whatever reason...his corner threw in the towel. Just like Holy's corner threw in the towel.

    nice interview post Holyfield.

love the way Toney can hardly comprehend the question asked by Jim Gray

in thinking it was a "bad ass disrespectful question"

when all Gray really asked is if Toney was too strong, powerful, etc

Toney knows Jim, called him by name...and it isn't the first time he'd been interviewed by him. Toney felt Jim was trying to go down the road of diminishing the condition of Holyfield, who Toney has tremendous respect for.

...that's called squashing it before it gets off the ground. He wasn't going to let Jim diminish Holy or his win. Sometimes Jim is a way bigger dick than even Larry Merchant..

James can't even reach Wlads head.
