in the interview Jim wasn't really trying to provoke anything and IMO

Didn't try to take away from Holyfield AT ALL ... all what was asked was

"were you simply too quick and too fast for Evander Holyfield?" Like you've never seen that question asked at a post fight interview

I recall someone asking something very similar to David Diaz in his post fight interview after losing to Manny Pacquaio.

and then Toney spazzed for no reason calling Holyfield a great fighter (which is true) but Toney continues into a rant saying "I got milk, WHO'S NEXT?" liked the smacking down the microphone .. VERY classy.

Larry Merchant is a lot worse, he'll say anything from calling the fight boring, to questioning the level of opposition, to even the judges.

all Jim asked was if Toney was "basically too good" for Holyfield.

**there's been a lot more deliberate attempts to downgrade opponents .. if you saw the Hatton-Castillo post fight interview for example .. which was done by Kellerman, but whole nother story

Well, it still was a dumbass question because it reduced Toney's victory to just his superior quickness. It took a lot more to beat Holyfield than speed: defense and skill among others. So, it was in some way downgrading for Toney and Holyfield.

Toney's childish act to throw away the microphone was caused by the comment "Let's try to have a decent interview". To have a decent interview you got ask decent questions and they weren't there. I don't want to justify Toney's childish behaviour but this is the explanation for it.

Toney was trying to squash it before it got off the ground. He knows Jim.

I love James Toney. However, he talking out his ass on this one. Toney Rhamn 1 a draw. Tonety Rahman 2 nc. He lost twice to Peter. However, he did beat Peter in the first fight. James Toney used to able to talk the talk and walk the walk back in the day.

He's walking it again...every interview his head is getting slimmer. He said he doesnt' have six rolls on the back of his neck anymore.

...and Rahman quit, robbing Toney of an all but guaranteed KO.

and since you brought up Peter, why not use him as a measuring stick...???

    Remember...

...Toney fought Peter 24 rounds and went down once, and was right back up...2 seconds maybe.:good

WLAD fought Peter for 12 rounds and was down 3 times...:-(

    Remember:

Toney fought Peter twice & lost both times

Wladimir fought Peter & won easily on the cards

I can't see Toney beating Wlad. Not even when he won with Holyfield. The size disadvantage is just too large, and Wlad is really good at using it (which is one of the reasons his fights are so boring).

Just watch his fight with prime Byrd - who was similar size to Toney, and also had very good defence combined with speed. All that helped him only to make Wlad miss more often than usually, but the problem was that he still couldn't land anything on Klitschko.

Toney's style is different than Byrd's, he has also more power... but it could count only if he gets through Wlad's jab, which is unlikely.

True, Peter only won 3 rounds. Toney is a fat steroid addicted slob and has no business fighting for any belts.

He can on the inside and the body work James is known for will cause Wald to "shrink" so to speak...you kill the body the head will fall. But I'm not so sure this version of JT could win a decison over the giant. One thing for sure it will be competitive.

"Id put pressure on him"....thats what they all say and want to do until they start eating jabs and rights.

Id love to see Toney try it. Wlad would KNOCK HIS ASS OUT!

Suge....I know you are a Toney fan....but really look at it. Use your brain...no bias....
You really believe that Toney would beat Wlad?

Wlad would jab toney into submission ala Brewster

Toney is not going to stay on the end of the jab.

...and we've yet to see KLIT in with a better boxer than him.

I freely admit that I don't know how Toney will take away the jab...he will find a way to make him miss, and counter. Toney is a great counter puncher.

James will fight him inside. If KLIT wants to fight dirty with his holding ****...James will have something for him. He will not take that crap, and will probably head butt or low blow to keep WLAD honest.

I don't expect everybody to agree with me, but Toney is better than almost everybody KLIT has fought.

I dont see Toney getting past the jab to get inside. after eating the jab for 2-3 rounds, I think Toneys game plan will go out the window. I know toney can box, but I think Wlads boxing skills will match toney in a fight. I think Wlad is to fast for Toney as well.

With Wlad trying to unify, and Haye barking like a dog, I dont see fans wanting to see this fight anytime soon.

Now Toney/Haye I would LOVE to see
