Thanks Jeffrey for this information, it was not possible to find a report about the fight anywhere.

I've seen a couple pics on Ellis FB page though, and Toney looked out of shape again (even tho he claimed to be in 'great shape'...).

All of this is just a farce at this point. Toney is delusional, and he seems to be surrounded by yes-men. If Buddy McGirt and Lamon Brewster really are his friends and supporters, they should tell him the harsh truth. It's time to retire, and it has been for years.

Toney was fantastic at the lower weights and nobody can take that away from him. He was my favorite fighter but I'm not a fan anymore. He's destroying his legacy at this point.

Toney has a future in boxing, but not as an active fighter. I see Toney as a trainer/promoter/manager for young up and coming talents. He's got a lot of boxing knowledge to pass on. But when he keeps going as fighter he'll be so damaged goods that he won't do s*it anymore

If Toney can't beat club fighters like Ellis anymore, there's no need for him to keep trucking.

I'm asking myself why he even cares to make a 'comeback' (how many comebacks has he made in his career already?) when he doesn't even take it serious anymore and doesn't get in shape??

Except that I believe that Toney has already established his legacy regardless of how many times he loses at this advanced stage of his career.

Showing up in this kind of shape is a slap in the face to his fans and supporters. The same happened in the UFC debacle... At nearly 47, fighting unprepared with eroding skills, Toney has to be stopped from himself - time to call it a career James.

Toney is still an ATG, and nothing that happens now can change that fact.

 

People close to him must be wishing his chin was as bad as Jones'. Whoever approved his licence should be banned from anything related to boxing, or any other sportive activity for that matter.

 

Normally, he was supposed to fight Bahoeli in October. It has been postponed like 5 times already, so I don't think this will actually happen.
