Man, these dumb Russian here. Toney KOD Greer in 2. He got hit by one decent right hand, so what this is boxing.
Watch this and tell me you think he's still even got his legs. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdG8SZ79gCw[/ame] If you can tell me with a straight face he's still got it and not just outclassing a guy he would probably outclass if he were an arthritic eighty-year-old, then I hope you spend a lot of time standing in front of a microwave about waist high, to make your procreating less likely, you dumb ****. No offense, brah. Also, all of the above if you can seriously call that a "KO" without getting nauseous, deep down in the truth nerves of your belly.
Toney never used his legs much in his entire career. I see a destruction of a journeyman. It does not say much though because of the quality of opponent . But it certainly does not serve as a basis to say that Toney has deterioated.
I would have said the reverse was true, Toney was competative in the first fight but was systematically battered for 12 rounds in the second, the beating he took would have been damaging to a GENUINE Heavyweight, but the long term health implications for a fat, middle aged, Middleweight are horrible to contemplete, Toney has got fatter, slower, more deluded, and incoherant with each fight, the 24 rounds he did with Peter must have aged him 20 years, I fear he will have serious health/neurological issues in the coming years, sad when you consider this was a man admired for his once sublime defensive skills
Fair enough I suppose but I'd say Samuel was ruined by all those straight rights & right crosses that Wladimir hit him with in the first fight.
atsch Jesus, man. When a fighter doesn't have their legs, it doesn't just affect fighters with a mobile style. ****in' hell. This is Matt Greer. This is a guy that reportedly got stopped prior to this by Kevin Turtle-man Johnson! In only two rounds James lost his footing several times...against Matt ****ing Greer! He's still smart, he's still talented but his body just doesn't have it. I'm a huge Toney fan. He's one of my favorite fighters of all time. You can't throw him in against top guys even in this era. Not anymore. Come on. You have to see this. That Greer fight was in 2009 at 217 pounds. He came in forty pounds heavier for Reed and he's 42. His talent alone, sadly means he could probably ballyhoo his way into a big fight by beating Reed and Greer level guys forever but I'm telling you there's almost no chance he's not just cannon fodder for guys who would be embarrassed by any good version of James at this point.
Man speaks truth. Peter was never the same after Toney beat him. Just look at him. He fought good fight against Wlad, but after Toney dominated him (much more convincingly than Waldo did) he was never the same and got dropped even against Mccline.
Just like Shannon Briggs , Michael Grant , Lance Whitaker , Chris Byrd , Alfred Cole , Cedric Boswell , Calvin Brock , Charles Shufford , and yes , Rob Calloway and some others too.
