Much as I like Toney no way he can get to 185. When he actually bothers to train he gets down to around 225-230.

Hell, Toney says he is going to knock everyone out he talks about. Obviously this fight will never happen, just a chance for him to get a bit of spotlight IMO.

I'm a huge Toney fan but there is no way at 40 + years of age and however many years of fluctuations and hard fights, that he is getting down to 185. No way.

First of all, Hopkins would beat Toney with both at their best. Second of all, Toney will never be at a healthy 185lbs again. Beating him in this fight would just call for "Toney was weight drained", and the win means zero. So, it's pointless. Toney's inability to train and maintain his weight is what cost us an all-time match-up.

Toney is obese. At 5' 9" ,weighing 185 would be closer to the most healthy weight for his size. James has shown that he can be chubby and still fight, but in the Peter fights he was too rotund to move around fluidly. Getting down to 185 would be a chore, and he'd have to do it gradually, or else what happened to Jones against Tarver could occur. But at this point, Toney is more slurred talk than action, and he'll probably just get fatter as his skills decline. There won't be a fight with Hopkins, just a few more waddling struggles against some second rate heavyweights, until eventually, one of these bums will end James' career, and it won't be pretty.

A Toney vs. Hopkins match up would be realistic at a weight range beween 205-210lbs. All the rest must be viewed as a desperate attempt of Toney to keep his name alive...

I imagine it to be easier losing weight , than it is trying to maintain Heavyweight physique . At 5'8" - 5'9" weighing in as a heavyweight would more than likely render you a fat ******* if you cannot keep up weight training.

**** Talkers just never stop talking ****.

James can't get any good fights at Heavyweight - so he's calling out any decent name he could now.

He can't get in good shape to fight at Heavyweight - but he's going to drop down to 185lbs. to fight Hopkins - Please.

If he could do that - he can get in proper shape for a Heavyweight fight - then he wouldn't have to call out guys that are over 30lbs. less than him.

Toney never belonged at Heavyweight . Weight training to maintain that weight more than likely brings injuries to a fighter. That much weighttraining isnt even good for boxing physique. The only other way to be a heavyweight is to be fat. FOR THE SCALES.

This is great motivation for him to actually get back down to the neighborhood of 215lbs. So what if he can't make 185.

A Toney on his way to 185 could sub as a replacement opponent when some guy who knows the KLiTs will destroy him, happens to get injured before the fight. The Toney who beat Holyfield could be a Major Champion.

Toney is 5 '9, there is no reason his fat ass can't safely get down to 185lbs. Hell 185 lbs. is still kind of big for a guy that height.
