Me too!!! I'd love to see this fight...not b/c it's a real challenge for JT, but b/c it will be nice to see how good Haye really is. Don't get me wrong....I'm not saying Haye would have a chance, but it would just be nice to see if he can land on James and if he has any heart to continue when James starts to get in that ass.

Well, Toney hasn't fought Wlad of course. But I dont think some people realise how hard guy like Rahman and Peter hit.

Exactly, i don't see why people are taking this as some sort of insult towards Toney's legacy. No one is saying he wasn't a great fighter.

He is currently an out of shape, over the hill unnatural HW, who relies on his once legendary skills and ring whit to defeat average HWs. His record at HW is 5-1-2, with his best scalp being a 40 year old Holyfield, and that was half a decade ago.

Regardless of whether Toney would teach him the finer points of boxing (he probably would), he just doesn't throw enough or hard enough to beat certain types of fighters. Same issue as Hopkins. They'll both beat some great fighters because of their skill and style, but they'll also both lose to some far inferior fighters because of the style matchups.

Jt's legacy is in tact no matter what....the HW division is only icing on the cake should he be successful. To say JT is out of shape is not accurate at all. To be out of shape you aren't able to go 12 rounds or even 10,8,7 ect....Of course we were not able to see 12 rounds but he was lighter than in his fight with Peter and James was able to fight 12 rounds. And his skills are legendary in the past and still today. Skills are the last thing to go....along with power. And Peter isn't an avg HW in todays standards.

James won't loose to any inferior fighters just due to style. It will take physical advantages like Height, reach ect ALONG WITH Skills & Speed to beat a guy like James.

The only style that gives James problems are the slick FAST counter punchers.....And that is only b/c James is NOT super fast and he likes to be the counter puncher. Not to say he can't beat this style bc he has in the past. Of course he lost to guys like Montell and Roy but there have been others who James did beat with similar styles.

Although Toney could give a lot of the bums getting around the HW division a good run, you say it will take physical advantages, well most HW's have physical advantages over Toney, in that they are better built for it, height wise and frame wise. He is slow and doesn't have huge power, so has to rely purely on his skills. In his current condition they can only get him so far.

Peter is such a terrible puncher. He hits harder than haye, yes, but his punches are wide, slow and lack acuracy. To hurt a guy with a great chin, you need more than raw power. Haye would hit Toney with punches he wouldn't see coming, which is something Peter was not be able to do.

I'd be surprised if Toney is under 18% bodyfat, that isn't in shape for a professional sportsmen be it Heavyweight boxer or not.

Anyone could go 12 rounds, whether they could consistently work at a high rate for 12 rounds is another story.

I dont think Toney would know who he is but it would be a good match and a barrometer of how good Haye is
