    There, I said it.

Y'all know me as a Toney fanatic on here, and I always thought there would still be some kind of hope for him and supported him even after his disappointing performances against Peter II, Batchelder and Oquendo... there have been reasons for that.

But the writing has been on the wall for some time, and Toneys latest statements concerning himself and the state of the HW divison prove that he's utterly delusional and probably brain-damaged. Him coming in at 257lbs - a full 100lbs heavier than what he was when he beat Michael Nunn for the MW title, and 40lbs heavier than when he stopped Evander Holyfield - was the last straw.

I don't even care how he looked in that fight against Damon Reed - I haven't seen the fight yet - but by all reports he failed to look impressive against a journeyman, yet again, and he couldn't stop a man who's been KOed in 2 by f*ckin Monte Barrett. Yeah yeah, 'had Toney been in shape he would have stopped him', but as a Toney fan I've grown tired. Both Klitschkos and probably also David Haye would KO Toney at this point, the IBA strap is a joke, that's a fact, so there's no point for Toney to continue. Even if he could get down to a reasonable weight again, you can't turn back time and it would be too little too late.

I've always said that the day when Toney finally retires would be a bad and sad day for boxing, but now I want him to retire before he becomes a total joke. He shouldn't do MMA either (he should never have gone there in the first place).
When he retires now, he can still claim a very, very good record, and being one of the toughest and most skilled fighters to ever step into a ring - regardless of his inconsistency. Toney is an ATG and a legend in his own right. 73-6-3 don't lie. But he has tainted his legacy somewhat during the last years and shouldn't put his legacy further on the line by becoming a joke. He should retire now with a 3 win streak and by being proud of never being stopped or being close to being stopped in 80+ pro fights.

I'm a big Toney fan, it's a shame to see him continue. I think he has some money problems, apparently he didn't get any/much of his payment for his UFC appearance because he had to pay off taxes. The man is a born fighter and unfortunately, it's his easiest way to get some money.

If he has financial problems. Nobody's really got the right to tell him to retire. If he's still capable of beating the c level opponents. Despite coming in like jabba the hut, than i don't see what the problem is...

How can anyone tell Toney to retire when boxing is the ONLY thing he can do to earn a living?

Toney sunk his ship when he ballooned up to over 200 lbs a month before the Jones fight and had to be fed via IV for weeks to lose the weight. One of the biggest fights of your life and you are over 30 lbs overweight a month before? That story still astounds me.

I wonder if he's tried training fighters. He could possibly be good at that and make good money.

As long as he makes millions with every fight, he will go on fighting.

Yeah. He's not the man he promotes himself to be. Then again, I only have vChildren, that I know of.

Toney hasn't got paid a million for a fight in a long time. At least not for a boxing fight.
