Toney vs. Haye would be a good fight but so would McCline vs. Haye. Either choice is a good test.

I just think this fight has to happen plus it would be a decent money fight for Haye. Believe it or not besides Klit, Toney has the biggest name of this heavys (maybe Peter). If the Toney that fought Peter the first time shows up and can get down to the weight that he fought Holyfield in. I will give him a chance. But this has to happen, I don't care about bull**** rankings. It has to happen

Exactly. Haye had trouble taking the shots of CRUISERWEIGHTS. He's a KO waiting to happen at HW.

    Toney-Haye will never happen....
I just hope Haye doesn't try to get too big ! He shouldn't be above
230 lbs if he wants to keep his speed advantage against almost all heavies.

Saying Haye has no heart is an empty boast, even for Toney.

Then after he takes out Daniella Haye, He can go after Wlad and his sister Vitalia.

    James Toney is a nut.

I agree, Haye needs to enter the heavyweight division by beating a fighter known to be a legitimate heavyweight with heavyweight size and power.

Toney, although a great fighter who would probably give Haye a great fight, is not really widely seen as a heavyweight......... I see him as a heavyweight, cause he's over 200 pounds and chooses to be that weight, but most of the sporting press and boxing fans would probably dismiss Haye's win over Toney, due to Toney being known for his lower weight accomplishments.........

Haye would be defeating his purpose by going up to heavy, only to get alot of press for his big debut fight, then to choose an opponent who most consider NOT a heavyweight. It would be kind of rediculous, if you think about it.

I think the press and fans would agree with your sentiments, and not your summary of theirs.

Toney fought to a draw against Rahman for the HW title, Toney beat Ruiz for the HW title before being stripped. He fought back to back HW eliminators with current HW Champ Sam Peter. James is a recognized HW, those who refuse to accept this fact are holding on to distant memories at the expense of recent and current accomplishments.
Nobody needs to forget Toney's great accomplishments at lower weight classes...they were a highlight in a storied and continuing career.

Also, James Toney is the most skilled fighter in the HW division. What the press and the fans know, is that he is his own worst enemy...and there is a growing amount of optimism that he may be putting that aspect of his career behind him.

Haye would destroy Toney at this point.. stop him by the mid rounds IMO (as would Klitschko and Povetkin). The Toney that fought Holyfield is a different story, but we're dealing with today's C+ fighter version of Toney.
