I am quite a big Toney fan, but not really a huge fan of Calzaghe, so since the Toney v Calzaghe H2H thread got a good debate going the other day, I thought we could compare their resumes and see who people think has the better one, so I'll pick my top 12 Toney performances, and maybe a Calzaghe fan can provide his... (not in order) 1.Vassily Jirov W12 cruiserweight 2.Evander Holyfield TKO9 heavyweight 3.Mike McCallum D12 middleweight 4.Mike McCallum II W12 cruiserweight 5.Michael Nunn TKO11 middleweight 6.Iran Barkley TKO10 supermiddleweight 7.Charles Williams KO12 supermiddleweight 8.Tim Littles TKO4 supermiddleweight 9.Doug DeWitt TKO6 supermiddleweight 10.Reggie Johnson W12 middleweight 11.Merqui Sosa W12 middleweight 12.Dominick Guinn W12 heavyweight/Sam Peter I L12 heavyweight
The Holyfield win and being on his feet after 12 rounds with prime Jones eclipses anything Calslappy has ever done, end of thread. No comparison between the two, none whatsoever. Toney is a great fighter, Calslappy is a *****.
Toney has the better wins resume obviously, though he was more inconsistent, due to not only his competition, but his own personal and weight problems.
Ha ha! Nice one mate, my split-second of absolute horror quickly turned into laughter! No guys, no imaginary, fake or fictional fights, and no dreams about fights, or sexual fantasies about fighting- just boxing matches that actually happened please!! cuchulain: :happy
the first fight with mccallum was a draw, second was a decision to toney and the third was years later when they were both fat and thought to be way past it so i really wouldnt even list that one, mccallum was like 41 id put the nunn above either mccallum 2 or 3 which is what i think u mean
I did say they were not in order remember, but cheers for noticing that about McCallum, it's 3.30am in the morning here and I'm typo-ing like an illiterate here and my brain is mushed, will fix it up now.
Good to see you stuck the 1st Peter fight in there when you changed it- I gave that decision to Toney. I think Calzaghe could beat him h2h, but 12 from Joe's career couldn't be listed to match those. Toney has a fantastic resume, one of the best of the last 20 years.
So you finally clicked to the assumed resume wind-up. No offence, there mate. When ChinaHandJoe tossed it out, peoples' reactions were just so indignant, I had to try and keep it going. I just re-read that thread (last 10 pages). It was pretty funny. Keep on postin', PACFAN84 ! :good
Toney has the better resume in terms of the names he's fought. However, Calzaghe has been more consistent and more focused. Neither career is over yet.
ChinaHand Joe and Pugilist are ****ing laughable. Maybe you were joking with the fake resume thing (or maybe you weren't and now you're just embarrassed about it...:think ), but who knows if brainiacs like them were pretending too, nothing would surprise me with those dudes.atsch Reading that thread back, those 2 guys never answered anyone's point directly, they got thoroughly embarrassed and put in their place by more knowledgable and rational posters repeatedly, and still came back with their rubbish claims and ****-poor arguments. The whole thing was a waste of time to be honest, you were chucking facts at them hoping for a debate, and getting one sentence of shoddy shite back in return. They were clearly more up for a fight than to seriously discuss boxing. Just typical idiots that give the General a bad name. Cheers back at you for your posts here cuchulain :good ps: chinahand was definitely NOT kidding when he was exposed as not knowing what pound-for-pound means!!!! I bet his face was ****ing red there! Silly sausage :scaredas:
I only saw the thread today and entered it at post #592 (serious post in response to suggestions that Calzaghe had ducked Bernard). Then I read CJH's post about what Calzaghe 'could have done' and it cracked me up, especially the bit about Valuev and how Joe would deal with him. (You have to have read some of CJH's earlier posts to pick up on his twisted sense of humor. ) And then the reactions started to flow and I tried to keep it going. At one point, I PM'd a Calzaghe fan who was embarrassed by the whole thing and didn't find it funny, to let him know I wasn't serious. To set the record straight, my only non-serious posts were concerning the assumed resume bit. I don't know if the threadstarter really believes that Cazaghe is the best of the past 25 years or if he's exaggerating, but I'm pretty sure where CHJ is coming from.
Toney imo beats Calzaghe H2H at either 175 or 168, and has the better resume. The only black mark against him (I don't consider not being undefeated a black mark) is the fact that he turned out to be a steroid ****** at HW.
