Take the Toney that just defeated Nunn and give him that 4lbs extra for wiggle room, and the Marshall that just smashed up LaMotta and give him the same excess; both these guys struggled with 160lbs at their best and the extra 4lbs might make this an even better fight.

    Who you got?

    I have to favour Toney.

Some will question his consistency but against the row I don't think that is a factor that can be held against him.

It would be a close fight, maybe decided by a KD. But at his best Toney was one of the best ever.

I see Marshall out maneuvering Toney to a decision

He had moves and footwork that would work against Toney the same way Roy Jones' did

Besides he bested a better slick counterpuncher with a bigger punch in Burley, hand injury or not it was impressive what he did there

I think this would be very competitive no matter who you favor...
Marshall has the power edge...Toney has the better chin. Toney loved to counter right hands, with his own right. But in the clips, Marshall has a way of varying the speeds of the right hands he throws, and the power in which he throws them, also he leans low after throwing that right...might make it a little harder for Toney to get off that quick counter...? This tactic could be somewhat similar to how Roy Jones took Toney apart by throwing a "throw away right" and putting the power behind a left hook...and Marshall has an excellent left hook. But a funny thing...Toney is old school he can throw that right then lean to the left and roll out too, after throwing a right hand...They would be giving each other some of the same looks. I think Toney gets to Marshall with his inside uppercut, and Toney's upper body movement and quick hands gives him the edge inside. It's close because Marshall is so good initiating clinches, and then firing off power shots...Both have plenty to make the other think.
Mighty close call...but I would take the best version of Toney at 164 over the best Marshall at 164...Cheers.
