9 out of 10, Tommy outboxes James for a unanimous decision, but that 1 time, James could stop Tommy late.

Toney would beat hearns ass at 160. Talk about overrated at 160 hearns takes the cake

People just say "oh tommy would knock him out" lol. not ever. James tangled with with heavy weights. Hearns would get out smarted, countered an brutalized . James was a superior fighter to tommy

ah but what if Hearns surprised him early with a sneaky straight right after setting it up with a feint to the body ala Reggie Johnson

Only being one of the sport's great punchers instead of a featherfisted cutie, it starched him for the 10 count.

That's what i'd be hoping for at least.

I need to do a study on Toney's MW (and LHW for that matter). I've been meaning to watch the Johnson fight along with some others... I've seen the Jones (SMW), Barkley, and Nunn fights...

I have trouble picking against Hearns here though.

At least I'm inspired to watch some early Toney...

Very true. This is a guy that got iced by Barkley and went life and death with Roldan, but still he's almost made into a h2h monster at the weight.

I do feel that the styles favour Hearns here, though, and a points win is absolutely not out of the question. But Toney was the better MW.

for sure. I love tommy. But come on. Toney would either lose a decision or outhustle hearns.

Hearns by decision, similar to how he outboxed Benitez. Toney is capable of catching up to him like he did with Nunn though, Toney was a big puncher at MW

Hearns prior to 1985 beats Toney. I cannot see them fight. They are friends.

I have never been as high on Hearns @ MW as many others are, and do not believe that he would be able to beat Toney at this weight or above.
