He retired after the Littles fight, against him he did well. He was tired from all those fights where he had to lose weight. During his off period, he ballooned up to 260 pounds. He then came back at 203 pounds against Porter.
Toney has absolutely no relevance whatsoever to the current heavyweight scene. People talk about a weak division- but where is Toney in it? Nowhere, not even in the picture
I used to be a Toney fans years ago, but he almost always let me down, esp in the Jones fight. If talking can win a fight, they Johnson would have had a knockout.
Exactly Toney just desperate to land one last big payday , he knoes he cant beat Haye or Wlad or Vitali ( or to be honest probably a bunch of other guys now either ) but he does no enough to avoid getting badly hurt. I like his antics but its bitter sweet it always reminds me what a waste of talent he was.
I think he might be able to do something against Haye if he would train for a chance, but he has to eat and smoke that damned cigar all the time!
James Toney is a double-bellied moron! Haye says the things to put asses on seats for his fights in his press conferences and interviews, does JT really think Haye's bothered whether the other fighter comes back and makes it a slanging match....It's all about hyping a fight up FFS! This quote made me laugh "He's trying to take a page out of my book, just like everybody else, but they can't follow through with it because they don't have the skill or talent like I do". :rofl Not only is Toney fat and over the hill, he's deluded too! I would like to see Haye-Toney, purely for the bad-blood that would likely be created in the fight build-up and the fact that Haye would beat him and shut him up!!
Toney has wins over Holyfield, Guinn, Rahman, Oquendo he got robbed in Peter I and won that Haye beat Bonin, Barrett & won a close, arguably contoversial fight against Valuev where he threw 12 punches a round. Toney's resume at Heavyweight is waaaay better than Haye's. lol How does that make you feel?
