He lost to Eric Harding ( wins the rematch by ko) he loses to Roy Jones ( wins the rematch by ko) loses to Glen Johnson ( wins the rematch). Makes a Rocky movie then gets dismantled by Bernard Hopkins ...then loses to Chad Dawson twice ( past his prime ). It must have been a pretty weak decade
Yeah, Tarver was easily the most devastating. Jones in '01/02 was an animal. Who'd you think would've won in 2007ish between Tarver and Dawson?
He definitely deserved the win over Johnson the first time; I was just about ringside for that fight. There was little shame in the Jones loss and I think Harding was probably a little better than Griffin and Tarver avenged that emphatically. He also logged other wins like Woods, Griffin, and Reggie Johnson. It’s a million times better than Toney’s shitshow of a run at 175. Throw in Toney’s run at 190 and Tarver would still be ahead.
You can cherrypick all you want.Fact is Toney has the better resume and is the greater fighter. He did well from 160 to heavyweight.
Yes because Toney fought Griffin in 1995 and 1996 and tarver did in 2003. Yesss exactly the same version. Plus it is a great argument "A beats B and B beats C so A would beat C" lol
That isn’t my argument for literate people. However, it’s better than whatever “in my imagination” arguments exist for Toney. Toney, Griffin, and Tarver all are about it the same age anyway.
it is your only one. All you said was a silly thing like " griffin did beat toney and tarver did beat griffin easy" Sounds like anyone checking boxrec and saying that Tyson was better than Ali because Ali lost against trevor Berbick lol
No, read my other posts. Fighter A became a lineal champ at a weight and put together a very good/borderline great resume there. Fighter B had a single notable win and several loses around that weight range. The win was against a face-first guy and Fighter A is a rangy counterpuncher. Common opponents: Fighter A, 5-1. Fighter B, 1-3 This isn’t hard.
Well, Griffin had recently beaten George Khalid Jones and Harmon before Tarver. Those are probably his best wins other than laying down for Jones and edging Toney.
