Hopkins, 8-4 type decision. More versatile fighter.

Toney... but it's close.... Toney is very athletic and powerful and we see what happened the first time Hopkins saw true athleticism... RJJ 1...

JT by unanimous decision. You cats are forgetting that he was an outstanding stylist with athletcism. BHOP may have ATG fundamentals, but even at his physical prime, his athletcism was miles behind James.

Great fight, I'd pick Toney but it's pretty much 50/50.

I love both fighters, and have watched most of their fights, but calling who would win. I think it would have to depend on when they would fight.

I would have to say Toney at middleweight. He is just better (more talent). If this was later in their careers where Bhop would win because of conditioning.

Also, even though Hopkins has better fundementals, Hopkins said that he learned a lot about the shoulder roll from Toney.

Hopkins would win because he's a smarter guy and a smarter fighter. Although it might be a case of Toney winning the 'fight' and Hopkins winning the boxing match. In other words, Hopkins isn't going to 'out man' Toney who will finish the fight unbowed and defiant as ever.

Hopkins would steal the fight rather than putting a comprehensive beat down on Toney.

Stylistically, I've always felt that Toney would defeat Hopkins.

1991-1994 JT vs 1997-2001 B-Hop would be an absolutely fascinating fight.

But ultimately, I think Toney would edge it, close but clear.

Whereas B-Hop learned and developed his skills with experience, Toney had a more natural, rhythmic style of fighting. I think his rolling and slipping would make Bernard look a little mechanical by comparison. It's just a bad style match for Bernard. I think B-Hop would be more wary and tentative than the more fearless Toney, I think Toney had better handspeed and hit harder, and I just see Toney punching his way to a decision in a fantastic fight.

7-5/8-4 Toney IMHO. Love both fighters.

this is one of the fights i would have loved to have seen.

id have loved it non prime also.

at middleweight, light heavy and even at heavy i think this would have been an awesome awesome fight by two masters, ring generals.

i have hopkins at middle, just because of activity by clear UD
, at light heavy- id favor hopkins but by split decision
and at heavy- toney was pretty amazing for his size, and hopkins hasnt shown his **** at this weight- but he s talked of it- so i ll include it- plus toney campaigned here long - id have toney by UD but a close one.

Tricky one to decide. Both very skillful and elusive fighters but I'd favour Hopkins to win a narrow decision. I give the edge to Hopkins based upon his movement. Toney is better in close where he can slip and counter but a mover like Hopkins can minimise Toney's opportunities by staying at a distance.
