Let wait until BJS has fought a top level boxer-puncher before we start fantasy matchups with HOF level competition.

Great performance against Lem but Lem's crude approach was taylor made for BJS. he now needs to step up against GGG, Canelo or Jacobs. Or even Charlo.

I know, it's like saying Toney would end up going life and death with a very green Eubank Jr and scraping a SD or struggle to a MD at home against Akavov.

Toney, and he does it any way he wants to.

Happy New Year you dumb ****ing troll! :Saeufer: Hope the Holidays were good for you and the hubby. Did you get my coal in the stocking?

And I didn’t predict a Billy Joe victory just off the fact that Toney lost to Dave. There you are twisting another post around into something it wasn’t. I just used that example directing it towards the individuals on here that laugh at the notion of 160 Toney being beaten by Saunders. It was a way of reminding them that James was never unbeatable at that weight.

Lol “Going LIFE AND DEATH” is a bit of an exaggeration. He won a pretty clear decision against Eubank Jr. The Akavov fight was a bad outing that brought outside problems that Billy Joe obviously corrected.

Billy Joe, and he does it in any way that would make that ****** Toney STFU for a while regarding fighters from the UK.

Billy Joe Saunders is starting to make me a believer. He's got quick feet, Munahamed Ali like dodging ability ( shuffle included ), but he also fights smart and knows when to open up with enough power to get his opponents respect.

To beat him, you got to press the action and be in shape to fight a full three minutes, not a James Toney forte.
So the styles here dictate who wins, and I think its Saunders.

Well personally I regard hanging on for dear life and scraping a SD decision against a very inexperienced Jr as going life or death.

It wasn't "clear" at all, far from it, BJS held on.

Akavov.. Oh right so BJS has "outside problems" but you didn't think that Toney might have had issues before that fight. Toney was always having problems, it was a struggle keeping him out of Burger King for most of career by the sounds of it but I see how this works.

Look I'm British and I like BJS, I really do but I think people have gone way OTT with this win, it was a very good win away from home against a tough, hard punching fighter but DL isn't that great, he certainly isn't a Toney, RJJ, McCallum, Hopkins, Nunn and doesn't punch like Julian Jackson.

DL is solid but is very limited and let's not forget he was punched in to submission by Golovkin, beaten up by Rubio and lost to Alcine ffs, so although a very good win it needs to be put in to some sort of perspective.

They were great, thanks for asking.

No, unfortunately I didn't get any coal. Maybe next year though if I'm lucky.

We all know about the Tiberi fight.

We don't need reminding that he wasn't unbeatable. But anyone with an ounce of intelligence knows that it's better to put forward a theory based on each fighter being at their best.

He didn't win a pretty clear decision against Eubank.

Yes, he had a bad day at the office against Akavov. James also had a bad day at the office against Tiberi.

    It happens.

The difference is, although they both had bad days at the office, James is the one who beat the higher calibre fighters in McCallum and Nunn etc.

Maybe Billy could beat fighters of that calibre? But at this point in time we simply don't know.

James would have to be favoured at this stage.

Billy's looking revitalised and it's great to see. But I think it's still too early to have predicted a win over James.

James wouldn't respect his power, and we don't know how confident Billy would be and what mindset he'd be in. This is why I'm itching to see him fight Canelo and GG. I'd love to see how he approaches those fights. I want to see the full impact that living in Sheffield with Kid Galahad and the Ingle's has had on him. Because it was only a few years ago where he spoke of not being good enough to beat GG. He's also always had stamina issues in the past. So continuing with the Ingle's and fighting the likes of GG, Canelo and Jacobs etc, will answer a lot more questions.

GGG is 35. Sanders might be able to beat him at 36, when GGG slows down. But prime for prime GGG has the right style to beat Saunders.

Saunders is talented. He won Olympic gold and showed me something in his last fight.

To me this would be a dream fight, to top technicians, both pretty tough & clever in the ring...I'd like to say Toney ,but to TBH its a hard call ...

Blow Job would not be competitive against Lights Out. This match-up is just wrong.

If you"ve never seen Toney fight @ MW how could you make a prediction?

Do you even know who McCallum is? He would beat every MW today in their primes and he would probably get past at least 2/4 of SRL, Duran, Hagler and Hearns at MW, and possibly all of them (excluding dodgy judges), noting only Hagler was a true MW of this lot and would probably beat McCallum.

I bet BJ could beat Harry Greg at MW too. Look him up.

You have to consider both would be at their best for this and styles make fights.
Saunders light on his feet and boxing off the back foot I think would be a stylistic nightmare for MW Toney.

    Saunders UD

It’s also a hypothetical matchup and everybody has the right to their own opinion without having some little deranged troll trying to preach to them about how they should gage both fighters. Lol Remember that  I told you this when you were made to lose your **** in the Roid Jones threads. And no... “we all” definitely don’t know about the Tiberi fight. You’d be surprised who doesn’t on here.

Toney was in shape and ready for that fight. Dave was tough and crafty enough to get the better of him. That WAS Toney at his best ;) And Saunders is a better fighter than Tiberi with better reflexes, hand speed and power. Imo... he beats James and gets well under his skin in the lead up also.
