Toney faced guys at middleweight who were closer to Saunders in terms of style than vice versa. He didn't dominate against them, but did find a way to win. I've got Toney winning a close one assuming it's both guys at their very best.

"That was Toney at his best"

    Haha!

    Yeah, off course.

    Oh my.

That wasn't Toney at his best, otherwise he could never have beaten the guys who he did.

"Not everybody knows of the Tiberi fight"

Everybody who knows anything about James knows of that fight.

    What an embarrassment you are.

"James was at his best, Tiberi beat him, Billy is better than Tiberi, therfore Billy would have won"

    My god.

A baked potato possesses more knowledge.

    Tiberi wasn't even a southpaw.

How convenient that you give Billy a pass for having had an off night against Akavov, but you won't allow James one.

Honestly, I've been here 6 years now, and I've never seen anyone struggle as much as you.

You seem to be completely out of your depth on every debate that I see you in.

You wander around hopelessly just talking nonsense.

Stick to the lounge where you can hurl insults around.

The General is just a complete waste of time for you.

Is Billy as gifted as what Nunn was when he was at his best?

Good question. Don't think he has the offensive ability that Nunn had in the latter's absolute prime, and certainly didn't have Nunn's height and reach. To be fair, he's probably about as good defensively and I think more durable.

Saunders has dimensions akin to Reggie Johnson, and has a tendency to fight like him. I thought Toney just managed to shade Sweet Reggie after suffering an early kd, so that bodes well for him in a match-up against someone with a similar style and skill-set.

    Good post.

    I'm a big fan of Billy's.

    The other questions are:

Would he have had the same gas tank as Reggie?

Would he have had the same will?

I'm just glad Billy's finally getting his recognition, and he looks extremely confident and very sharp after working with Kell Brook and the Ingle's.

I'm desperate to see him fight Jacobs, GG and Canelo.

You aren’t even a good troll dude. You try and stir **** up during EVERY one of these hypothetical matchup discussions. :D Lol Again... like I said, I used Tiberi as an example of Toney NEVER being this unbeatable guy even in the early stages of his career like some make him out to be. I happen to think Saunders has the skills, speed, footwork to gives Toney fits and also good enough Pop to keep him honest. Don’t like that opinion... too bad! Lol

    Turn it in man.

    You're hopeless.

I do have to give you credit though for supplying us with some more pieces of comedy gold:

"He won a pretty clear decision against Eubank Jr"

"The Akavov fight was a bad outing that brought outside problems which Billy Joe obviously corrected"

"That was Toney at his best against Tiberi, and Saunders is a better fighter than Tiberi"

    Ha!

    Quality.

Who's made Jame Toney to be some unbeatable MW? Everyone and their momma knows he lost there. Good point on making sure everyone knows he's not unbeatable. What's next? Going to inform everyone on the importance of food and water? LOL

    Thats a great post.
Toney may well have been at his best and found Tiberi's style difficult to fend off.

Saunders is light on his feet. I think Toney would have trouble landing much whilst Saunders picks him apart

Think people forget that at this time Saunders is operating at a far higher level than Toney.

    ------------------ Saunders -------------------------------------------- Toney
    Fight #15 undefeated 12-0 Fletcher ---------------------------- 6-16-0 record fighter
    Fight #18 undefeated 16-0 O'Sullivan -------------------------- 1-0-0 record fighter
    Fight #19 undefeated 15-0 Ryder ------------------------------- 10-1-0 record fighter
    Fight #20 undefeated 22-0 Blandamura ------------------------ 15-11-0 record fighter
    Fight #21 undefeated 18-0 Eubank Jnr ------------------------- Draws with S Williams 24-11-0
    Fight #23 A Lee world champ 34-2-1 --------------------------- S Williams 24-12-1
Fight #26 D Lemieux (defending away) ------------------------- 25-7-2 record fighter

    You get the idea.
All these fanboys try and tell a different story but lets look at facts.

    Saunders clear UD

I knew you'd come to help him out.

I wonder where his other cheerleaders have got to?

They must be in the lounge.

Everyone who knows anything about James, knows he wasn't at his best.

Isn't it funny how Billy had an off night against Akavov, but James had to have been at his best against Tiberi.

What a difference a year makes.

This time last year I was debating with posters who thought that Billy was a laughing stock. Now after beating Monroe and Lemiuex, we've got 10 threads per week, speaking of him beating SRR and picking Toney apart etc.
