Ah, the magical power of threes. Say anything three times and it becomes a reality! There's no place like home. There's no place like home. There's no place like home. :happy
despends on what judges like in the fight, potshots v volume these are 2 fighters who actually loved to fight, both did not mind taking a few shots , did not hold, could both fight inside and outside. would have been a very very good fight on the eye IMO james only had a very shorty career 6 fights or so at 168 in his whole career to judge him from at the weight calzaghe IMO was actually a better fighter out of his physical prime , when he showed he could adapt and change his style to suit what was in front of him as he got older. when younger he stayed in the pocket virtually all the time going for stoppage wins and as a result fought with more flaws and would have been easier for toney to beat. james toney would have beat the calzaghe that fought robin reid james toney would have lost to the calzaghe that beat kessler and lacy.
Toney by TKO/KO ..... were talking a prime Toney here not the 40+ renditions of greats that Calzaghe made his name off.
I feel anyone saying either man "easily" or "by vicious knockout" or anything approaching that, is probably highly underestimating both the slapper and the snacker.
People saying Calzaghe would be stopped are talking ****,Calzaghe had a an iron chin, was never stopped and had great recovery powers, this would be a very close fight,id imagine Toney would land the cleaner blows and calzaghe would throw more,it could go either,at 168 id fancy Calzaghe over every supermiddle weight ever apart from Prime Roy Jones..
Yeah. You can tell when people are writing from their little book of "Fighters who I can safely say would dominate any mythical matchup and have a few other posters back me up." Doesn't even require any actual effort, and you can get that post count up really high. I never saw JC lose (from my little book of "No ****, Sherlock"). It is hypothetical what it would take to beat him. I saw him both rise to occasions, and also lower his game when fighting lesser opponents, making it look harder then it should. But always doing what it took to get the win. I did see Toney lose. I saw him both rise to occasions, and also to fail miserably. When Joe had a bad night, he won in ugly fashion. When Toney had a bad night, he got humiliated and lost. Saying he is certain to win? No, the real James Toney was not certain to win, only the mythical one that exists in the minds of some posters. I can't say who would win. I agree with the posters who say that it would come down to the judges. Quantity or quality.
:good **** all these other clowns who think Calzaghe is even on the same level. Calzaghe fought a list of nobodies his whole career and was scared to death to take on real challenges.
Jirov is a volume puncher like Calzaghe with the difference that unlike Calzaghe, Jirov actually throws real punches with much more leverage and power than Calslappy. Tony would whip Calzaghe's like ****** ass even worst than he beat Jirov. End silly thread! atsch
Toney would counter those slaps all night prime toney beats him any he was a better counterpuncher then hopkins and look at how hopkins was countering him at 43 i think toney could actully tko calslappy
Calzaghes superior workrate and stamina see him cruise to a close but comfortable UD down the stretch.
