    This. Easily.

Toney, particularly at 160, needed to be allowed to fight at an easier pace than Monzon would allow. Terrible matchup for Toney.....

Monzon would box, brawl and batter his way to a clear points verdict. Too strong and busy for 'Lights out'

Toney would be cute enough to have his moments, but not nearly enough of them.

I think Monzon is too methodical to take this. I think Toney's Kryponite is speed and I don't see Monzon having things his own way with Toney catching him with counter combos and taking a close but clear decision

While I favour Monzon, I could see this happening as well. I would have Monzon a 60/40 favourite, perhaps 65/35 at a push but Toney's style woulden't make it easy I don't feel.

Toney didn't even have that great a run at 160, a come from behind KO of Nunn being his best effort, being KD'd against Reggie Johnson in a close fight, a draw against a 35 year old McCallum and what appeared to all in attendance a loss to Tiberi.

That just doesn't stack up to 14 title defenses set for the championship distance and string of 60-something fights without a loss, and every loss in his career being avenged.

Toney always seemed to be fighting 160, while the large framed Monzon seemed to work well within it and was brutally consistent in his performances.

I think Toney's the same size as Monzon.

most people who are not completely ******ed would have scored the first Toney McCallum fight for Toney. a terrific performance from an old McCallum. in fact he put in one of the most awe inspiring performances against an equally talented Kalambay months prior to that fight. but don't let facts get in the way of your ******ed argument.

Monzon should win a comfortable UD.

His timing and positioning should help him with Toneys counters.

"Not that great" run at 160 and "a draw" with McCallum were one of the reasons Toney was rated as one of the best fighters in world back then.

I never stated that Monzon was bigger than Toney, merely that he had a large frame and worked well within the weight limit, in contrast to say... Toney. It's called reading comprehension.

Was not McCallum 35 years old in their first fight? Were his best performances in front of him or behind him? Was he at his peak? I never said it was a bad performance for Toney. I said it was an old, past-prime McCallum and he did enough to earn a draw. Again, I know it was a complex argument I laid out, with many postulates and footnotes, but comprehension of the written word is crucial in these matters.

And yes, I am a complete and total ******.

    Well, one can always ask:

Who was the best H2H fighter Monzon beat?

Was this fighter better H2H than Nunn, McCallum or underrated R.Johnson?
