This is one of the more questionable decisions that Toney was on the winning end of.I had it 115-111 for Tiberi,i think he outworked James for most of the fight. How did you score the fight? You had it 115-111 for who? I haven't seen this fight but I think many on here would feen Tiberi won it. Toney was a master of being in close fights as you really had to think to yourself did he do enough to win rounds.
I thought tiberi won it,Toney just didnt do enough during the fight to win.He was content to let Tiberi outwork him while occasionally landing some good combos. It wasnt enough for the win imo
Ahhh okay you said 115-111 but I didn't know how you had it for lol. I'll watch this fight along with me rewatching the first Griffin fight in a week or two and score both of them.
Very Bad decision....Dave should have gotten at least a rematch, he had Toney's number, James hated it to the body...I think the only fair decision here would be Dave Tiberi UD....This was a ROBBERY
Ya i was surprised when watching the fight how Tiberi was able to handle toney,i think he was known as little more than a club fighter at the time of the fight. It would have been a huge upset if tiberi got the decision:good
It wasn't the robbery it was made out to be. If you really sit and score it, Tiberi landed many more uneffective feather punches, but Toney's much harder counter shots carried a lot of those rounds. I had Toney winning by a point. Alex Wallau was irresponsible in his coverage. Even a weight drained Toney did enough to nick this, the disrespect shown afterward was highly unwarranted.
Tiberi won clearly, but I can remember scoring it a while back and the card I had suggested Toney did a little better than the action would lead you to believe, although i must stress, he clearly lost that fight imo. I also had Toney losing to Mike McCallum the second time, thought he got outworked. I also thought he was lucky to get the nod over Rahman, and if im not mistaken, didn't he have a dubious decision over Terry McGroom?
I had it 116-111 Tiberi. Disgusting decision, as Wallau said on air. I applaud him for his candor. Took a bit of guts to do that, and I've always rated him highly. He knows what he's looking at, Wallau isn't a noob.
Why are people so mad at this decision? Stuff like this happens all the time in boxing so I just shake my head and move on, no need to throw a fit lol. Even Toney acknowledges that he lost. I haven't seen Toney-Tiberi yet but will do so sometime this week. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1oZBWjlbes&feature=related[/ame]
Reconsidering this, and I think you were right. I must agree that Wallau should have saved his venom for after the interviews. No reason to discrespect an honest effort to one's face. Saying what he thought about it in the final wrapup afterward would have been better.
