His reign wasn't terribly long, nor deep, but h2h you probably have to consider Jirov among the best champs at cruiser. You never see his name brought up but he's probably in the conversation up there with Holyfield, CDL, and Haye - at worst running in the same dead-heat runner-up pack as Nelson, Qawi, Mormeck, Bell and Gómez although I think he beats most of those guys h2h. I also think (and believe you agree) if he only had stayed longer and not gone chasing paydays at heavyweight, Adamek could have been in that same pack. Shame the way timing worked out, they just missed being contemporaries in the division by a few years, because Adamek vs. Jirov would've been stupendous.
Interesting matchup. I’m going with JT. He was a better boxer and I think Haye would have trouble catching him. Toney’s toughest opponent was the scale or the dinner table. At MW, he was a special, although undisciplined fighter. One of my favorites but he frustrated me because he never achieved the level of greatness he should have achieved.
