He looked quite impressive in his most recent fight. lol he's not top three, in spite of having his paper WBA belt. Fighting Ruiz is much better? Haye wouldn't beat ****, even this current 40+ version of Toney would beat Haye. His last fight he was 217. He was in good shape (for him) his defense looked good, he was throwing more than 1 shot at a time, and got a 2nd round TKO. If this Toney fought Haye i'd lay money on Toney stopping Haye. He's land a counter right hand flush, hurt Haye, then put him away. That said, i don't imagine Haye will ever fight him. Here's the fight [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdG8SZ79gCw[/ame]
Forget about it, this fight won't happen. Toney already called out Haye some time ago, but Haye said he wouldn't fight Toney since he had too much respect for Toney (but he also claimed that he would KO Toney if they met). Haye then chose to fight Monte Barrett instead.. Now he will have to defend his belt in a string of WBA mandatoriy defenses while Toney is totally out of the picture. And while Haye might have the right style for Toney, I guess he would beat Toney at this point. Toney might just be too old and faded. Haye is just too fast, and he wouldn'd take any risks, not enter Toneys danger zone and run all night, en route to a boring points win - just like he did against Valuev. But if Haye tries to stop Toney, throwing some wide ass hayemakers, I see Toney capitalizing on it and countering the **** out of Haye, maybe even stopping him. And let's not forget that a 2003/2004 version of Toney would kill Haye in the ring, at CW as well as at HW.
Sure shot hall of famer, and he already is an ATG. This is not even debatable. Why? One look at his record should explain more than 1000 words. You can look up his record at boxrec.
Toney is a legend, who is/was competitive in 5 weight division in a weight span of over 40 lbs. As no other former mw fought at hw on a regular basis against acceptable opposition, I think that this accomplishment alone makes him an ATG. David Haye is a virtual nobody compared to a proven great like Toney.
We're talking about a 2003 version of Toney here, who became Ring fighter of the year. No way would Haye beat that version of Toney.
he is far an wide top 3, i favour him over vitali but not wlad. the only men near him are chambers or povetkin and i'd expect haye to ko both. seriously, if you think toney could put one over on haye, follow a different sport! it would be his first stoppage loss! you don't need a kd to win a stoppage, haye would pepper him with hooks an the ref would have no option!
While Haye would be favorite, it is not some undeniable fact that he would win. Toney is tricky opponent for anyone
