Don't know who would win but Toney had several outright gift Decisions at Middleweight and until that happens to GGG can't really say Toney is better at that weight. People complain about the opposition GGG has fought at Middleweight go and look at who James fought. It wasn't a very strong bunch......

I do think the super middleweight version of Toney beats Golovkin.

At middleweight, I favor GGG by decision but only just.

GGG has made it clear he wants to fully unify Middleweight first. Hopkins was there for 16 YEARS before he moved up. Why is it ok for him to hang around and fight Andrew Council, Hakkar, Allen (3 times ), Daniels, etc but it isn't OK for GGG to do the same? :huh

The Michael Nunn KO was no gift decision. Beating Nunn puts the whole of Bumlovekin's resume to SHAME.

For the record, I was a very big Jirov fan and watched him very closely. Gennady is a more complete fighter than Vassiliy Jirov was.

 

A MW version of Toney is an absolute nightmare stylistically for Gennady. Toney had no problem staying in the pocket for long periods of time and just counter his opposition's shots accurately. He was very crafty in his prime and his combination of having a high boxing IQ, elite defense, a great chin, excellent counter and combination punching would be far too much for Gennady.

 

That's not my point. My point is the idiots saying GGG by KO when Toney has good defense and a iron chin. If Toney can go all the way up to HW and take shots from HWs he will be able to take GGGs.

 

Golovkin has the style that Toney excels against: Guys who come forward.

Also, Golovkin doesn't look good on the inside, as shown in the Murray and Monroe fights. Toney had one of the best inside games of all time.
