James Toney Vs Gennady Golovkin at MW. Who you got?

    I'd pick Reggie Johnson and Maccallum to beat Golovkin as well and
    stylistically Merqui Sosa was a giant brute. He wouldn't beat Golovkin
    but guarantee I don't see Golovkin stopping him. He'd have had his hands
    full.

    Golovkin moves to Toney, he'd get countered into oblivion. This wouldn't
    be an off night Toney, It'd be a fight he likely took seriously and showed up
    for.

    That's why I specified 86-88 Toney who was relatively green and wasn't bulked up. That version vs Toney from the Jirov fight would've made for a FOTD canditate.

    3g hasnt fought anyone near the calibre of toney, I dont think he stands a chance with his KO tactics that wont faze the tone. (well they will certainly hurt him, but james wont show it and can soak it up).

    Toney would be a test indeed...but I would like to throw in Julian Jackson into the mix...GGG definitely would NOT offer his chin to this guy...Wilders "Bomb Squad" definitely applies to JJ...BUt this is all sillly as this is now & GGG is the MW King Kong...all inferior fighters run & hide ...quaking & Quacking like Isal...Duck ,Duck & DUCK again!

    While I agree that an on-form Toney would be a stiff test indeed for virtually any MW, people also tend to forget that he had a number of performances that were less than 'atg'. Sanderline Williams and friends say 'hi'.

    It annoys me somewhat when folks pick out a few great performances and palm them off as representative of a fighter's general status in h2h, while consistency in other fighters isn't recognized or appreciated.
