James Toney is still alive. Man, no wonder we all give the heavyweight division such a hard time. These two are set to fight July 16th in what should be one of the most boring fights in my existence on earth.
The president of Top Rank had some pretty ridiclous things to say about it - "I think they're both marquee names, but they are at a crossroads in their careers," (a little bit of an understatement I think) said Todd duBoef, president of Top Rank, "The winner of the fight should be given the opportunity to fight for one of the titles." A title? Is this dude serious? What a joke this guy is, the winner of this fight should get a piece of cake and a retirement party (3 cakes for Toney).

throw a steak and kidney pie in the ring during the fight and a REAL brawl would break out.

Look, let me start out by acknowledging that both fighters are ghosts of their former selves, Rahmen sucks to begin with and is only known for a lucky punch, and Tony should still, to this day, be a super middle weight.

All of that being said, the heavies can use every name they can get, even if it is to build up a gut to pad another's records down the road.

The best result would be for Rahmen to win. He is 4-5 years younger, has a win against an all time heavyweight great in Lennoz Lewis, is on a four fight wining streak, and, despite the fact that he had looked like ****, recently beat a couple of decent guys in Zuri Lawrnece and Taures Sykes.

If Rahmen wins this, sadly, he is kinda sorta a back in things.

so the sort answer is no, there cannot be a more boring fight, with Rahmen, who can alledgedly bench press 600 pounds, jab, jab, jabbing his was to victory in terror that a fat, 40 year old cigar smoking former middleweight will hit him on the jaw and crack his china chin.

    Oh to hell with it.

Toney will vacate the ring should he see someone selling chicken and biscuits in the audience. Rahman could probably win on a DQ

Ruiz vs McBride would be considerably more boring I think. :tired

In they first fight they throwed over 1500 punches in high action fight. So I dont think the rematch will even be boring.

    I was wrong!
This fight is bad and should not be given any more air time

The winner should get an opportunity to fight someone like Brain Minto or Kevin McBride.

But seriously, these big name fighters are always one decent win away from a big fight. In cases like this, with a big name who has a well known history in big fights, their name supercedes if they are deserving or not.

BUt I would like to see this fight. I think Rahman's last (few) poor showings were something he can overcome and improve, given some focus and determination. THe Rock is not too old, yet, and may be able to get his second wind but doing well against Toney.

It's 2008 man, welcome to the current. Toney is done, he almost lost his last fight to a journeyman.
