We saw Byrd have some success against Ike because of his defensive mastery.

How does a more durable, potentially harder hitting defensive master do here?

Easy, easy win for the Nigerian. You think Toney's gonna win rounds throwing 25 punches a round when Ike throws 70? James would probably last the distance, but receive a thorough, career ruining beating a la Peter vs Toney II. Ibeabuchi was a ****ing animal.

Ike is much more schooled than Sam Peter, is faster than Peter, better chin. Peter is essentially a poor mans Ike and beat Toney, Ike would KO him and get him out of there or just win by a near shutout.

Nothing to add....perhaps another "easy" in your first sentence.

Ike will go down with Riddick Bowe as one of the biggest wastes in Heavyweight Boxing history.

    He could have been something.

Fighters who "could have been something special" are ten a penny.

For every five people who have the talent only one delivers on it.

Ike outworks Toney to a UD or late TKO.

I don't know where all of this Toney not being able to handle a high output comes from. Toney normally throws his fair share of punches in his fights. He may even have a compubox record for most punches landed in a fight. I'll have to research that to see if I'm correct.

Activity would not be Toney's problem. Ibeabuchi's strength would be the problem. If you remember the first round of Toney vs. Holyfield, you'll remember Holyfield won that round. The fight did not change that much style wise after that. Toney was just able to better handle Holyfields strength after that round. He would not have the same success against Ike. Ike was stronger than Evander, and would have kept that kind of pressure on all night. James just isn't big enough to deal with Ibeabuchi even if he normally excels in this type of style match-up.

Ike showed he was on his way to something special by the way he timed and then cleaned Byrds clock ... I see him doing a number on Toney ... His Schmeling to Toney's Walker ...

i think Riddick Bowe and Ike Ibeabuchi are special cases.

Ike was forced out of his boxing by a prison sentence, whereas Bowe almost over night became shot became a shot fighter.

Well a non punch drunk sam peter easily outboxed sam peter in the first fight. I had it 115-112 James Toney.
