I think it really depends on which version of either guy shows up. Both guys could be wildly inconsistent. If we are talking about the best version of both I think Quarry would drive Toney nuts. At his best Quarry was a counterpuncher who made his opponent come to him and would counter off the ropes, not at all unlike Toney. Quarry being the bigger guy I think would force Toney to come to him and Toney wasnt as effective that way. I think Quarry also hit a LOT harder than Toney. I think this fight would be a phone booth war that could end with Quarry cut, Toney getting outpointed or Quarry getting outpointed. The only stoppage I see coming would be if Quarry got cut bad enough and Quarry wasnt exactly a bleeder. Odds are this goes to a close decision.
There is zero chance in this world that Quarry would try to stay away and box Toney. He went right at Joe freaking Frazier. He's going to move and box and stay away from James Toney?
Why not ? He isn't a mover but even so he is generally more mobile than Toney at heavyweight and i think he'd be fighting at all ranges, I don't think Toney can keep Quarry at his preferred range. Peter vs Toney was close so even If he tries to walk Toney down the entire fight he would likely hold his own on the cards even if he's less effective than him
