Calzaghe getting KO'ed isn't exactly out of the question imo.Hes been put down by guys who brought far less than a prime JT.Anything less than an A++ chin and your at risk.

Eubank was noted as a bigger puncher than Toney.

Why are we being revisionist about history guys? Yeah, I'm a New Yorker, I WANT the American guy to win, but it just doesn't happen in this case.

If we're talking RJJ Prime vs Calzaghe Prime, RJJ all the way.

But we've seen Toney in his "prime" at 168.

Toney gets over-rated due to his ability to competitively fight from 160 to HW. Nothing more, nothing less.

  5. :good Agreed 110% **** ***** tits sluuring Toney, over-rated as **** lost 2x to a midget Montell Griffin, beatdown by Dave Tiberi only to get a gift decision, and lost to some guy named Drake Tridizi?? and was humiliated by Roy Jones, Calzaghe has NEVER lost a professional fight let alone to B fighters Griffin and Thiridizi?? Toney the Steriod junkie is the most over-rated fighter on this site..I can't wait until the 16th when Rahman whips him again..:deal

Yes check the KO ratios; why don't you inform the whole forum about them. How many people has Joe Calzaghe actually KO-ed. Only about 10 established boxers, out of the thousands plus, in the entire history of the sport have genuinely KO'ed less opponents.

There's a saying in boxing that goes: "You only look as good as your opponent lets you." Think about it; apply it to Calzaghe.

As far as knocking down Eubank goes...

Weight drained (he was fighting at cruiser, still undefeated at middle) - near retired - lost 4 or his last 7 -took fight at few weeks notice (would have been illegal to some boxing boards) Eubank - got straight back up from the knockdown. He was totally unaffected, and gave what Calzaghe himself says was the toughest fight of his entire career! Someone who does that doesnt sound like the actions of some hurt seriosly by a "power puncher"...

TKO is still a KO buddy.

Weight Drained? Dehydrated? Did you SEE Eubank during the fight? Eubank was training for another fight at the time, was in superb shape during the fight and has said himself "No excuses, I lost to the better man"

Like I said, don't revise history to suit your agenda.

If you want to say Calzaghe sucks, be open about it.

And before you start your bull**** about "Oh, but I like Calzaghe"

Why is it you're always found in these threads, challenging Calzaghe's rep?

Eubank was fighting at Cruiser wight during that time. Did you see what recently happend to Byrd?

I dont think he "sucks", hes a great boxer in some ways (I like him), I just wish that people wouldnt constantly give him credit for what he doesnt deserve. What he could have done rather then did...

Byrd, 37 yrs of age, going from 220 to 175.
Eubank, 32 yrs of age, in training, going from 190 to 168.

How are we comparing these two again?

Eubank was a cruiser who lost four of his last 7 (somthing like that), near retired (boxers age differently) and was finished a couple of fights after he fought Calzaghe. He was given a few weeks to get down to SM to fight Calzaghe.

Prime young Eubank is a middle by the way and he remains undefeated there.

Right, so we've established that you're a Boxrec fanatic who has no understanding of the fights with which Eubank had at the end of his career.

Let me fill you in, so you can learn something out of today.

A: Eubank was not 190lbs prior to Calzaghe, in fact, his last fight was at 175.

B: Lets look at those losses

    Steve Collins.

Both fights were ridiculously close and could have gone either way, as the VERY close UD and VERY close SD indicate. (You know, the ones you saw on Boxrec)

Personally, had Collins winning the first, being the better boxer for the first eight rounds before Eubank found his niche and started to bust him up

Had Eubank winning the second, again, supremely close fight.

Collins was a superb fighter, by the way, he wasn't no bum that Eubank lost in the dying stages of his career.

Then we've got Carl Thompson, not quite as good as Collins was but a decebt boxer.

Again, we have a razor thin fight where I felt Eubank won the first, he scored the only knock down of the fight (a brutal punch) and I felt Thompson was gifted in their first.

The second fight, it was only swelling that stopped Eubank winning, he was ahead on all score cards and unfortunately, doctor chose to stop the fight.

Hardly Eubank being beaten because he was no longer a threat.

I love revisionist history, where Eubank becomes a 190lber before he was a 190lber.

You've obviously just been to boxing rec...after accusing me of being a fanatic!

For the first time, Ill go and have a look to check up my facts.

Sorry, my mistake, my old memory failed me, he was fighting at LHeavy (not Cruiser) before having to weight drain (at a few weeks notice) down to SMiddle to fight Joe. He then fought at cruiser thereafter for two fights, lost, and retired as I stated.

Little different there from what I said, really.

IMO, prime Eubank beats Joe by the way.

Agree..Toney did little in the division and Calzaghe was the king of the division. Toney could have been an ATG however, he likes donuts.

Was Carl Thompson black or white?
