Joe has good output and stamina, but also leaves himself open. His defense is pretty **** comparitively. He would be open for counters all night and this is a prime toney who used to throw 800-1000 punches before he became a fat slob. I am sure Toney would win.

I think I agree with this, but at 168 I'd take Calzaghe over Toney. At 160 young Toney was quite good, at his overall best, but I still wouldn't have picked him to beat many of the elites at 160. That version at 160 would have taken Calzaghe more than likely, at least at 160. He impressed me a lot more vs McCallum in the first fight than ever at higher weights, at least against a fighter of prime Calzaghe's style.

    Cheers for that Champ..

    Just quoting it....
    • "Calzaghe has an amazing record, undefeated world champion for over a decade. How do you think he would have got on in your era?
    Nigel Benn
"That's a hard one to say, but do you know what? If Joe had been around with me, Chris Eubank and Steve Collins, he would have had some harder fights than he gets today. But I still think he would have come out on top. You've got to give it to him, what he's achieved, being an undefeated world champion for a decade takes a special fighter. He would have had a good fight with me. He'd probably have beaten me although he would have known he'd been in a fight with me. Don't get me wrong, but he slaps hard. And he doesn't go down. I take my hat off to him. Joe's a credit to boxing.”

Personally I think Calzaghe would beat Benn, but I think a prime Eubank could take Calzaghe.

    Its a tough one

Calzaghe in Britain could pound out a decsion

Toney in America could take him into deep water

    Location would play a part

But Toney has all the moves to make things awakward for Calzaghe someone like Lacy was far more crude

I go for Toney by decsion to frustrate Calzaghe like Hopkins did but land more shots and be more aggressive than Hopkins was

I am a fan of eubank I think he is great value, as a boxer and his out of ring antics.

Here is the link to Toney and Mickey Rouke. If your from the UK parts 1-3 are worth a watch if you like the build up/hype of the rivalry (Eubank and Benn)

Yea, I've seen many Eubank/Benn interviews but never that one with Toney. That's a good one...
