Dude your kidding right?? I doubt Lennox would even consider fighting Toney, because of all the criticism he would catch for agreeing to participate in such an ugly mismatch..
Lennox is 6-5 Toney is 5-9, Lennox went about 250, Toney at heavyweight is only about 210, and James is gonna get hit harder than he's ever been hit in his life, NO CHANCE..
Lennox Ko 5 :dead if Toney isn't counted out, the ref, would come to his rescue, due to the excessive punishment he would be taking..

James has never been stopped, stopped a common opponent in Holyfield and Lewis has been lackluster many a time.

Lewis would maul Toney, Toney might not even hear the 4th round opening bell.

C'mon get real when was Lewis lackluster? Against Rahman, but Lennox got revenge, the other fight he lost was against Mcall, which was a bull**** stoppage, and Lewis easily won the rematch, when Mcall had a temper tantrum because he knew there was no way he could win..
Toney has been lackluster a lot more in his career than Lewis, losing to ordinary guys like Drake Thadizi and getting a gift decision over Tiberi and Oquendo, it doesn't matter if Toney has never been stopped he's never been in the ring with anybody that hits as hard as Lewis.

Why even make this, there are so many better match ups for Lewis and Toney.

Wow, you've managed to find a match where I'm betting against Toneys chin. Heavily, I might add. Prime vs Prime, this might not get out of the first round.

Toney is horribly over rated at heavyweight. Even in his finest heavyweight outing (Holyfield) he was shell shocked by Holyfield's power in the first round. You could see him thinking 'WTF have I got my self into here'.....although Holyfield basically stopped punching from the 2nd round (and I dont put that down to Toney's excellent body attack which occurred later in the fight).

With Lewis, I cant see JT's style being even remotely effective and I would see Lewis battering Toney for 3 knock downs (JT keeps his chin tucked too tight and his shoulder too high to be clean KOed) in a single round.

James is pretty durable and crafty, I think the Holyfield may have been one of his best at heavyweight....I think Lewis may have to go the Marovic, Mercer route and keep James outside for the win 12

In the early 1990s, when Toney said he would be HW champ by 2004 (this was in a KO Magazine interview), he talked about fighting big, dumb, and slow HWs. He mentioned Riddick Bowe, talked about how he would get inside and work his body.
Probably a lot of that is the perception that every LHW and MW has- that is, HWs may be big and strong, but they are also slow and stupid. This is why so many have moved up and failed, but Toney did ok at HW, considering that he was basically a weeble at that size.
The Toney that fought Holyfield ould be problems for anybody. It is hard to beat a guy that you cannot hit.

Agreed with the last line. James would make Lennox look foolish at times, as James did with nearly everyone he fought.

Toney's shell would not protect him. Lewis would pot shot him and could do so at a range from which Toney would find it difficult to counter. Toney would need a type of footwork he does not possess in order to make this competitive.

Sam Peters decisions Toney AND does an Ali shuffle in the dying seconds of the fight to further rub it in his face.

Toney would lose but he wouldn't be getting naqiled hard. But Lennox is a lion, he only needs one good shot to really make a guy out the fight. About 90% of Lennox's fight involve Lennox hitting the guy with 1 big shot in the first 2 rounds and the guy running from lennox until the 6-10th when lennox finishes them off. Lennox is the ultimate finisher.
