I agree with the majority that Toney would do well but lose a decision.

Nah, Toney is too slick for that. Lennox is more likely to stay on the outside pile up the points with the jab and not go into the exchanges with James. Kinda like he did with Tua

As 'slick' as James Toney is claimed to be, he got hit - often. And, using his win against Holyfield as a benchmark is bound to mislead.

Lewis was a much different style of fighter than Holyfield and the old Holyfield that Toney faced was just winging away, in the hope (and given that he never really changed tack, with some degree of expectation) that he'd catch Toney.

Lewis is going to fire straighter, faster, harder punches at Toney and he's going to land - and Toney is not going to hold up too well against Lewis, when he does.

    Late stoppage win, for Lewis.

A prime Lennox Lewis is a horse of a totally different color from Sam Peter and an ancient Evander Holyfield....

Lewis by stoppage or wide decision

The best way to beat James is to fight him as little as humanly possible. Lennox had the size and grappling to shut him down on the inside more often than not. Lennox via snoozefest UD.

I saw a video once where Holyfield was asked how Toney would do against Tyson,,he said" Mike'd kill him" Lewis would too.

Evander must still be bitter by the beating he received from James

Toney.. I shouldn't post when I am getting tired and getting older. Toney not Tommy. Tommy is a fighter I think about often. Toney.. Tommy didn't really have great defense. He had great offense, which gave him better defense because guys didn't want to be countered, which is why any fight with Tommy if he didn't have a hurt hand would be a little reckless. Tommy almost fought better when he had a hurt right hand then he relied on other things.

Yeah but this is a naturally smaller guy and for some reason I can see any right hand landing here hurting Toney. I know Peters hit Toney and he took it, but Lennox was better than Sam Peters and that right would land even on the top of the head and Toney would feel all 6 foot 5 inches of Lewis. It would be a case where a strong chinned guy goes out easily. It happens A certain style or leverage. Look how he landed on Tua and Tua didn't fight anymore. He landed well on Mike.

I love James as much as the next man, but Lewis demolishes, anyone south of 175, ever, in 2. James had an incredible chin but he never fought a heavyweight as fast or sharp as Lewis. It's a mismatch which should've have even been pondered.

I disagree. Toney's chin wasn't just great, it was proven against heavyweight punchers. Hasim Rahman hit him plenty of times with the right hand that knocked down or out really big guys (incuding Lennox) and couldn't hurt him at all. Plus his defense (when Toney was in shape) was exceptional. If 5'9'' Justin Fortune, who was knocked out 9 times in his 9 losses, lasted 4 rounds with Lennox, how Toney wouldn't be able to?
