Good analysis. I see Toney keeping it on the inside and an intersting inside war for 12 rounds, or for 15. I see Toney winning by a single point, however. And Hagler complaining afterwards to anyone who will listen, including the ducks in the pond, or pigeons outside his home.

:lol:Yes Tabin, I only take into consideration what fits my side of the argument, which is why you refused to take into account my comments on Toney's very best performance against McCallum, where he showed more versatility than in any other bouts, and still couldn't conclusively beat a past prime fighter(a fighter who by that point was at least a full level below a prime Hagler). And in two bouts nonetheless.

I really do not know why some people keep saying Toney lost twice to McCallum.

In the first fight, Toney landed the hard right hand over and over. McCallum shots had not a lot of power. Sean Ogrady scored it 117-111 Toney. The scorecard of Sky Sports was dubious. They scored it for McCallum by one point.Yet even the reporter admitted he was a fan of McCallum. Plus, he scored the round 11 even which was a clear Toney round. The rounds Toney won were much more decisive than those McCAcllum.

Second fight: HBO scored it 115-112 Toney. Both Lederman and Merchant agreed.

I had Toney winning the first bout by exactly one point. That was one of the most even and most difficult to score fights I've seen, it was far from clear. Probably a fight I'd have a different scorecard for each time out, could've easily gone either way.

In the rematch, while McCallum was clearly even more declined, I thought he beat Toney by a point, as Toney faded down the stretch moreso than in the first fight, where he came on down the stretch, just snatching the decision for me.

Bottom line, if Toney at his best is basically even money with a past prime, aging Mike McCallum, how well does that bode for him against a prime Marvin Hagler? Not very well at all, and don't give me that **** about styles matchups either, because Hagler was even more versatile and has McCallum beat in most of McCallum's strengths, especially the aged version of him a peak Toney couldn't even conclusively best.

Hagler himself said Toney would be the one middleweight he couldn't beat. "Monzon was good but Toney has a lot more skill, he's the best I've seen."

When did he say this? Link?

And Hagler wasn't exactly the best judge of skill outside of his own either. He was a terrible commentator for it.
