At lightheavyweight, I pick Toney to out think and outbox Moorer to a decision. Pretty easy for me to pick too. Moorer was a lil green at that weight

At heavyweight, it gets more interesting because of both fighters weaknesses at that weight.

Moorer was alot slower on his feet but was a better technician then he was at LHW. He just a better approach. Moorer was ultimately more proven there and had more fights, as well as actually becoming a real champion.

Toney was slower, and most of the time wasn't in shape. but i think he had more ability and skills then Moorer. he could make it interesting. Something that Toney gets overlooked at is the fact that he never got dominated at heavyweight (I believe he lost to Rahman) which is impressive to me since he was so far off his weight class.

    I pick Moorer at heavyweight.

    Your thoughts?

The steroid fueled Toney that fought Holy and Ruiz was a damn good fighter. Even when that muscle turned to (more) fat he fought on even turns with Rahman and Peter.
Toney is smarter and more skilled than Moorer and won't be knocked out by him. Nor does Moorer have the sheer size OR lateral movement (which is key) to beat Toney imo. Moorer was flat footed and didn't move much, this would be playing right into Toneys hands. I'd pick Toney at both weights.

Toney in shape should be able to take Moorer but I wouldn't be surprised to see Moorer win either if he was in shape. Moorer was technically a very good fighter and given both fighters would fight in close quarters it would be interesting to see what Moorer could do with his right jab and hook at the midrange

Great match-up................... I'll take Moorer at 175, cuz he was a monster there and Toney seemed dull and flat there........... Now, as far as 200+ pounds go, well, its a toss-up....... Both are skilled, and yet, both can be lazy... Moorer looked normal against Melvin Foster and Vaughn Bean..... Toney also looked slobbish against Rahman in 2006....

    Too close to call.......

Christ, by chance, I found my Moorer fight from circa '90 against Everett "Big Dick" Martin on the USA Tues. night fights..... Martin decked Moorer in round 3.... Peace..

    I agree with you.

I think the Toney from the Holyfield fight would have been in with a good, strong chance, though. Moorer was vulnerable from a boxing standpoints to angles, and when ever he was unfocused, he failed often to double tap, thus making him susceptible to the pull counter.

As Toney got fatter and shoddier, though, I think it'd resemble Toney's fight with Rahman the first time around, where I felt Rahman was unlucky not to win a decision: Outworking a lethargic James with his good right jab and piling up points, handling what potshots came back.

I agreee although lMoorer was a beast at LH, and imo i would favor him over quite a few highly regarded LH of the past... He was green, his power would bail him out over alot of more experienced and better boxers... But not this time,..Even though i never liked Toney at LH(thought he was an underachiever here) he was still slick enough avoid getting caught with anymore than a punch at a time from the green Moorer,, not to mention an all time great chin....Moorer was a huge LH,with big time power, and killer instict so hed have his moments and wins some rounds vs the lazy Toney(at LH).. But when Toney decided to turn it up hed school Moorer and take a comfortable decision.

AT HW Moorer changed up a little (after Cooper,Stewart fights) He still hit hard but not a bomber, and his boxing skills improved, but he wasnt the killer he was at LH...And he was a little chinny... BUt that wouldnt matter here, cause ive never been impressed with TOneys power at LH,, .. If you couldnt hurt Moorer he was a difficult guy to beat at HW... Moorer has the big edge in power, and although Toney has the better chin.. I think Moorer would come forward and take the fight to Toney.. At HW Moorers boxing skills improved enough to outbox most Hw and even avoid being outclassed by the slick and quickk handed TOney... . Toney would outland Moorerand throw more punches... But Moorer lands the heavier shots, as well as finding some success with the jab.. Ill bet he even manages to hurt or rattle TOney a fewtimes..

I see Moorer taking a close decision.. 115-113

I think even the LHW Moorer could make it close with Toney if Toney if was having an off day or something, or maybe if he wasn't in shape.
