Made Barkley look like an ineffective amateur to me. I had him slightly ahead in the Starling fight, which might have been the point where Nunn's personal issues started effecting his ring performances.

Looked ATG against Barkley and Roldan to me. More impressed by his performance against Roldan than Hagler's (who had a rough go before he thumbed Roldan) and Hearns (who had to hold on for dear life on multiple occasions). Nunn stood in and let Roldan bang with him to prove that he wasn't just a runner. Tactically dumb but he pulled it off. Got rid of Roldan in short order after he caught Nunn with a wakeup punch in the 9th.

I think something changed with Nunn after the Kalambay win.

Yeah, he had to fight ranked guys.

Well, there was that victory over Frank Tate.

Tate, Roldan, Kalambay were more legit than Starling, Curry and Barkley surely.

Roldan wasn't ranked was he? I mean he might have been actually, I pretty much presumed he wasn't.

Someone who is "overrated" doesn't lay Kalambay out that easy.

Nunn had Roldan down heavily in the first round.! He was on fire at that time
Barkley would've been a handful for any fighter in history in his 80s form..

Well, for example, ranking him the single best middleweight of all time would be overrating him.

He's up there. Easily the best since Hagler retired, IMO.

It's very close for me between Monzon, a '77-'78 Hagler, Kalambay at his very best, and Nunn at his very best, as to who is the best middleweight I've seen on film, ever.

Nunn probably the most talented of any.

I don't know. I'd regard him as a better challenger, on paper, than Curry and Starling still.

I checked he wasn't ranked and was more recently ranked as a light-heavyweight than a middleweight.

I'd consider the reigning welterweight champion a more legitimate contender personally than an unranked former-contender but it's all swings and roundabouts.
