James Toney vs. Muhammad Qawi 12 rounds @190lbs , both prime.

    poll is public.

James sucked at 175 but came back to shine at 190.
qawi was very good at both. though (his) best was at 175.
so , for those who have a problem with the 190 , you can answer as if it was 182 catchweight.

holyfield can be used as a measure tool .
but so does their achievements at 175.

    i do not see a stoppage .
can toney keep qawi off him ?
can he brawl with qawi ? of course he can , but who will get the better of it ?
or will it end like toney jirov ?
same weight and jirov's style quite similar to qawi's surprisingly.
after all qawi better than griffin and thadzi and we know what happenned then.
but toney stopped evander who stopped qawi.

It'd be hard to say "both prime" considering Toney's prime weight was 168, and Qawi's was 175. But regardless... I see Qawi beating Toney at any weight. His style would be very difficult for JT to handle. Qawi didnt apply dumb pressure like Barkley, Williams, and Jirov did. Instead he applied educated pressure, with very good headmovement and defense, good handspeed, and was a good counterpuncher. Of course Toney would win his share of rounds, but I see Qawi clearly outworking him to a decision win.

I agree. Qawi had a very good jab and was exceptional on the inside.

I'll tell you one thing, if Toney pulled his loud mouth , street act on Qwai he'd end up Qwai's *****.

Toney wouldn't be able to handle Qawi.

A clear decision win for Dwight Muhammad. Honestly, I can't see any other result in this fight.

style wise Qawi is a nightmare for James toney. Qawi would win a fairly easy decision,Toney could be lazy at times even an inshape Toney, and Qawi would be all over Toneys ass. Id say the only reason Qawi doesnt stop him is because of Toneys rock chin. HEd win this 11-4.

Qawi is like Montell Griffin, but with a punch and a chin; and Toney as a cruiser is older and fatter than he was at 175.

    Qawi by clear decision.

Toney is the better boxer for me and edges out a decision

qawi is nothing like griffin (stylewise) and he doesn't punch much harder if at all , it was simply his style that made him use and choose the harder punches than the ones griffin chooses to use most of the time.
toney as a cruiser was much better than a lightheavy for some unknown reason.
also not much fatter if at all.

he used a totally different technique that used harder punches but if him and griffin would have delivered the same punch it would have the same power that what i meant. he simply had a much more aggressive style than griffin's which lead to his stoppage wins not a bigger punch.

If Griffin was a harder puncher he would be more aggressive like Qawi, you ever thought of that? Instead of a 5-7 LH Boxer. Believe me dude he hit harder than Griffin I have no doubt about that one. Griffith would never be able to stop world class cruisers like qawi did,If griffin could punch he would have use it to be more aggressive and get inside to use his short height to his advantage. He had arguably the greatest trainer ever Eddie Futch(who roach learned from) and he knew what style suited Griffith best fi griffith could punch like Qawi believe that he would have been knocking more guys out.

griffin was quick had good reflexes and for his height at his weight class and level of opposition a great boxer. i remember he fought inside against toney and jones but toney is toney and jones clinched to force the ref separate them. and futch was one of the best trainers ever but roach is better.
griffin was a safety first boxer which i agree that may have been a mistake for him since he was so short. but again , qawi's stoppages in contradiction to griffin's lack of them were the result of style and not something else. since when did qawi even knocked anyone of notice down with one punch ? his only choice was to swarm and/or brawl. griffin was quicker , quick enough to give toney and jones hell. but being a safety first boxer was worse than good for him i think.
