    Gun waving notwithstanding, I see:

Toney getting beat up by RJJ.
Toney losing a close majority decision to Hopkins.
Toney winning a UD over a surprisingly docile Hagler.
Toney losing a UD vs Monzon.
Toney winning a UD over Calslappy.

He might beat Hopkins. The other 4 thrash him.

Solid picks. 0-5 or 1-4 is how I see it.

Seeing how much Toney had problems with speed, and straight punches ( Jones, McCallum and Nunn ) , Calzaghe with his energy and activity s a bad match up for him. Joe wasn't going to stand and trade, so there goes Toney's forte in the counter.

Toney would have dogged Joe out at all of the pressers and at the weigh-in.

You could have bet your life on it.

He’d have made Joe fight him.

Joe could only have won if he’d have been composed and applied educated pressure.

Although Joe was a great fighter, with great attributes, he didn’t do anything to be favoured over the versions of Toney who fought Barkley and Littles.

LOL, Hopkins and Jones thought the same.

I can't believe you actually think a presser or weigh-in matters. These are seasoned pro's. Toney was not a pressure fighter by nature, we saw when he's matched with speed and skills, he's the one getting out thrown.

If Barkley fought like Calzaghe, you might have a point.

    Hopkins and Jones?

    What are you talking about?

Roy was shot but couldn’t turn down the pay day.

Hopkins feigned injury for a breather.

Of course it matters you fool.

Toney would have lured him into a tear up.

How did the Reid and Mitchell fights play out?

How about the one against Salem?

It’s the reason why a fight against Froch would have been more competitive than what most people think.

Joe has done nothing to be favoured over Toney at SMW.

Beats B-Hop and loses to the rest.

Calzaghe gets the most lopsided victory.

Yes both Hopkins and Jones Lost to Calzaghe. That's what I am talking about.

Hopkins feigned an injury? What else is new?

Toney has not shown me enough work rate or outfighting skills to outbox Calzaghe, who in case you forgot, retired undefeated at 46-0 and used much faster feet than Toney ever had to keep the distance he wanted.

Meanwhile, I see Toney barely edging or drawing to lesser fighter than the five I mentioned. And of course, losing some too. What's up with that?

Styles make fights, this one is not for Toney. Ever top fighter I've seen fight Toney out jabbed and landed him. A fact an astute observe would acknowledge.

As a quick did you know, Calzaghe threw 985 punches, landing 344 vs. Roy Jones when he was age 36. Younger and in his prime, this type of pace for Joe would be no problem at all.

Not so, I am very happy. For example you think Toney beats Monzon :)

I invite you to debate all five matches.

What does Hopkins and Roy have to do with anything?

    Yes, I know they lost.

    And?

James Toney would have lured Joe into a macho tear up.

Both guys have huge egos, and Joe was vulnerable when he had a shootout.

I couldn’t care less if Joe retired at 460-0.

It doesn’t mean he was unbeatable.

Still hung up on Tiberi and Williams I see.

You need to see a psychiatrist.

I would pick anywhere from 1-5 to 5-1, but will settle on 2-4

    He beats GGG clearly
    He beats Calzaghe narrowly
He loses to Hop, Hagler and Monzon but has a real live chance to take a decision against any or all of them.
    Loses to RJJ clearly

And his favourite was a racist who wouldn't defend against black fighters on principle...

Looking how he didn't even really beat Tiberi, I hink he should be lucky to see round 8 against Murray. And Murray would only be a clear favourite against Hopkins out of these five, so, yeah, 0-5 or maybe 1-4 seems about right.

I mean, why even mention Roy? We already saw it play out.

    Anyway:

Toney beats Calzaghe. Competitive fight though, and Toney would have to be on his Barkley form to win. But assuming he was, he'd outclass Calz.

Has an excellent chance against Hopkins. I think the Toney from the first McCallum fight (which James won, and was robbed) is basically 50-50 with Hopkins. Gun to my head, if I had to pick I'd go with B-Hop, but its close.

Toney loses to both Hagler and Monzon... by a clear margin.
