I didn't see a thread about it. I read that James Toney was at the post fight conference begging for a UFC match and Dana White said he'd consider it. He'll probably get somebody that'll just take James to the ground and beat the crap out of him and then have a good laugh at boxing... What is James thinking? Dana told RJJ no. I read it on Yahoo! Don't believe the article on the good UFC fights though. Yahoo! writers are so in love with the UFC that they don't even put MMA under the title MMA, they call it UFC... It's mid way of the page... And yet, there is always something going on. On Saturday, former heavyweight boxing champion James Toney was hanging around the press room, begging White for a fight, which White said he’d consider. http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news;_y...slug=ki-ufcdelivers010310&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
Iole prolly just exagerated it like always. I read that Toney and McCollough were both at UFC 108 and that Toney did have a talk with White about a fight. Doesn't mean much.Truth is Goossen does't seem interested to promote Toney no more.
of course he does. MMA is for boxers who cant compete in boxing anymore, in fact im kinda glad mma is around so retired boxers have a place to compete. I do not think he will be succesful, he is too far gone imo.... he will get submitted or grounded and pounded, and i dont think he will actually be in the UFC, will probably fight for a less prominent mma org.
I like boxing better tham mma. but dont be too suprised if james toney beats the **** out of some mma guy because hes just a badass plain and simple.
In that video it seems like Dana is just being nice and humouring Toney. I don't think that we'll see him in the UFC anytime soon.
Unlike Roy Jones, and most other boxers, I think James Toney would be a world class MMA fighter. He has amazing technical skills, he has a granite chin, and despite what people say it's not going to be easy to take him to the ground. Sure he'd get beat by some of the elite fighters in MMA, but it's not like hes going to startout fighitng the elite. I can see him winning an MMA title if he were to quit boxing and go MMA now. I wouldn't recommend the UFC though, Machida and Silva would tear his ass apart.
