Toney stated yesterday that he was in shape. Of course, he says that everytime now. I think that Toney's switch of trainers has been beneficial to him. We will now see if Suluki can indeed bring Toney in at a low weight for an average opponent like Oquendo. The weight is very difficult to appliacble but the range of 225-230 might be accurate this time. Toney can't afford to come in over 230 anymore.
we have a winner. Disappointing weight for Toney, I expected him to be that heavy but I really hoped he would continue to lose weight gradually. I don't think it will affect the outcome tho, Toney by UD
I really don't want Toney to lose this fight...sorry Oquendo fan, but I just consider Toney a much more interesting fighter and personality to have around in the division.
Just disappointing again. He had to come in at the Rahman II weight or less but it did not happen. He also split up with Steve Suluki apparently because of money issues. Toney is now beig trained by Joe Goosen. Further, I understand from a press release that Toney knew already about 2 or 3 weeks from the opponent switch to Oquendo.
Where's that guy from BitchingScene who wrote the article on James Toney's comment that he was 260...???...James was obviously just talking ****...he had weighed in the 220s just a couple of weeks prior. ...and that was one of their better writers, there is no hope for that virus infested website. ...and I knew he'd be under 240, I am pleasantly suprised he is so close to the weight he was at last time out. James is going for the KO baby.
