James Toney will be in Prizefighter!

Yeah ive been meaning to watch that. I don't have trouble understanding him most of the time, some people just don't have the patience for someone who speaks a little differently to what they are used to. Look how many people **** a brick as soon as someone speaks in a thick foreign accent "I can't understand what you're saying!!", some british guys on american tv get subtitled etc etc. some people are pretty intolerent when it comes to **** like that...

 

Agreed but Toney definitely slurs a lot. You have to concentrate pretty hard to get it all. It's not the American/Detroit accent, he slurs a lot of his words now. Sometimes it's not too bad but other interviews I've seen are alarming to say the least.

 

its not the accent...he defintly has slurred speech, He speaks different to what he spoke like in the 90's. Just like meldrick taylor, Terry Norris, Ali....his speech is a concern.

 

Having nearly 90 fights and thousands of rounds of sparring is bound to have an affect at some stage

 

Ok he's in the tournament so lets forget all the other stuff

How will he do ?

I take it his first fight is against a UK fighter , will we see anything like the Toney of the past ?

Wow James Toney came in at his lightest for a Heavyweight fight in years at 217lbs and that was with his clothes on so more like 215lbs.

I thought Toney would come in light, he looked in "decent" shape recently

 

He obviously came in at 200lbs for the Lebedev Cruiserweight fight but then went back to being 240/250lbs for his next 2 fights at Heavyweight.

If you take off a few pounds for his clothes then this is the Lightest weight Toney will have ever fought at Heavweight in his career which is a shame that he does it now at 45years old and shot to bits for a nothing tournament like PrizeFighter.

 

With the type clothes Toney had on plus his trainers i would estimate his weight at 213 , which will be the lightest he has ever fought at Heavyweight !

The draw was good to him and hopefully he can at least get past Matt Legg who with only 7 fights must be a complete novice in comparrison to Toney. If he loses or is stopped by Legg it will be a real shocker
