Hey guys, its great to be entering a forum like this. Recently (since the end of last year), because of uni work I haven't being following boxing no where as much as I used too. I have just got a job where there will be plenty of time in the day to have This content is protected a tv with a dvd. I have around 8 boxing dvd career sets and am looking for another one (preferably long) for work. I was considering James Toney. I have seen his fight with Jones, Jirov, Barkley, Nunn and Holyfield as well as a number of clips. Looking through his This content is protected there are plenty of guys that I recognise as solid fighters at 160-175 in his prime that he fought. For those who have seen much of Toney, in his prime I'm talking about not the This content is protected heavyweight version, would you say its a worthy purchase? Did he have many good, competitive fights or is his career filled of Barkley like domination's? And while I recognise plenty of name on his resume, how good exactly was his resume? I know how solid his win over Nunn was, but if I get his career will I often be watching him fight the elite of his division, or just fringe contenders? Thanks a lot :thumbsup
Get the career set and watch the likes of tiberi, sanderline Williams, thadzi, sosa, and griffin school him in his prime. Bare in mind that these schoolings likely took place whilst juiced to the gills on steroids.
I was curious as to his draw against Williams. I saw Benn really struggling against Williams before doing what he does best and catching him with a big shot.
neither Merqui Sosa nor Montell schooled Toney. Reggie Johnson did however. Toney had some good showcase fights against Tim Littles, Anthony Hembrick, Doug Dewitt and others. Also real good high level against Mike Mccallum. Go ahead and get the career set. Guy was extremely active for a time.
