Different types of fighters. Jones was a physical freak gifted with tools and the ring smarts to put them to use in his prime. He used his speed and reflexes to his advantage, fully exploited them and that is why in his prime, I cant really think of anyone who even comes close short of super luck.

Hopkins is more of a guy who had vanilla tools, but like a fine wine he just kept improving. He has a style that is almost purely cerebral and tactical, it doesn't require him to have faster reflexes, greater speed or power to defeat his opponents.

Toney is very similar to Hopkins, except he has a great chin and in a way has been able to use it as a weapon in his arsenal of things he brings to the ring. I don't know how many times I have seen him time jabs, eat them in order to return a cross. He has always been great at using what he has physically and mixing it with knowledge to make him a great fighter. The only thing Toney didn't always do was take himself seriously, and show up 100% tip top on fight night.

Otherwise. There are eerie similarities between Jones, Toney and Hopkins. They are all very cerebral fighters who attempted to maximise their natural gift, or lack of natural gifts to a style.

Had Toney taken better care of himself, we wouldn't have all the negativity towards him. The guy had very average power and is still among the greatest ambush style fighters to ever live. Watching Toney set up his opponents is a thing of absolute beauty.. I'm sure if you could get him to watch film of himself and explain what he was doing, we would truly be able to distinguish true boxing fans from casual ones..

He didn't have some silly pressure style where you slap your opponent silly, out pace them, and minimize defensive mistakes. He had a very fine style in which he could and would lull opponents into patterns and fully exploit them. True ambush predator.

    1. Comparing Hopkins to McCallum is NOT silly. McCallum is one of the true greats of the sport and can be compared to anyone.

    2. Saying that Hopkins is better at 43 then "when he first backed down to Calzaghe" is completely stupid but coming from you it's not that big of a shock.

When can tell and that's YOUR problem so STFU you ****in Calzaghe dicking riding ****** **** sucker. You no NOTHING about boxing outside of Joe Calzaghe and Joe Calzaghe's dick.

You hate Toney but respect Hopkins and Jones:huh Is that because Calzaghe has a win(questionable) against Hopkins and will most likely have a win over a SHOT RJJ???

Ruiz was the WBA HEavyweight champion when Toney fought him. And Rahman was rewarded the WBC title when VK retired. Don't you feel like a ****in *******.:good

Didn't I already acknowledge an American Mayweather? But as this is a Joe Calzaghe Forum, I am within my rights to discuss him.

Clearly the fact you have inconspicuous fabrications regarding Calzaghe, and nothing to work with, you instead sink to low brow blue collared anecdotes.

I explained why Toney isn't a legend, and in detail, and with an objective viewpoint, its funny my negativity towards him means o so much to you.

    Now wobble off nancy boy.

Ruiz = Hopeless Rahman given a belt.... in other words vacant due to being a paper champion... plus he hasn't gone near the Klits Bro's... wonder why, he likes to bad mouth them though.

Oh and stop eye balling my rolex, I won't have you stealing it for drugs!
