Dan Goosen recently on James Toney: "I've had discussions with Frank Warren back and forth about Audley Harrison. Audley was at James' fight when he fought Rahman. There have been talks between us on that. Don King and I have spoken about putting him in China on the show he's doing out there. And I've had talks about doing a November fight out here with James against an up-and-coming or veteran heavyweight." I gotta say this is pretty disappointing. Dan does not really have anything solid for Toney right now. Goosen has made some good moves in the past but it might be better at this stage of his career for Toney to switch over to Don King who has given veteran fighters title fights in the past. Anyway, let's not give up the hope for a Toney-Haye matchup
El Boracho show some respect. Toney's future? First ballot entrance to the International Boxing Hall of Fame. One to the best talents of the last 20 years, who campaigned competitively from Middleweight all the way up to Heavyweight....
If the career he had boxing...is considered a ruined one..lol..then damn!. The ****ed up thing is he beat a lot of ass being a fat ****. NEVER stopped. EVER. Like he said, this **** aint no muscle contest. As I said and said again, no amount of steroids or protein shakes can make you go 12 round fights. The dude just got good genes.
Toney frustrates me. Here's a guy with World Class skills, a first-ballot Hall Of Famer, one of boxing's all-time greats, no doubt, but one who cares a little bit too much about his eating and a little less about his training, and it is because of the latter that I feel he should retire. He's got nothing left to prove.
I doubt any of the known, or top 15 heavyweights would be willing to risk fighting, at this stage. He's been outta the loop for a while, didn't really beat Rahman, per say, and is still probably a big risk for all but the top three or four fighters. I think Toney's best possibility for a good fight to help get him back in the mix, would be an up and comer, who is needing a name to get himself some clout with. Arreola, Solis, or Dimitrenko come to mind, first.. ....maybe even Chambers, Estrada, or Witherspoon, etc. These are the only credible fighters that I think would be most likely to fight Toney, at this point. Fighters who don't have alot to lose (some have unbeaten records to lose, and some an tier ranking to risk, but none are mandatories for a title, or anything, and none have yet face a proven and tested world class heavyweight), and yet, are still seen as viable opposition for Toney.
get Toney in the ring with Haye I be rooting for Toney but Haye is a huge puncher and will test that granite chin
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT TONEY EATING, LOL IT IS SO FUNNY, JUST LIKE 6 YEARS AGO WHEN THEY STARTED THE ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOLZ ROFL MCDONALDS BURGERKING HAHAHAHA..... Gimme a ****ing break people, its getting old.. One of the best defensive fighters of our time, not to mention old school and fought everyone he could... Also GREAT to watch in his prime, and I even enjoyed the last Rahman fight(fror what it was) and Peter - 1......
Damn that KMstar Roy Jones avatar is brutal. Jones looks like he's taking a "natural" afternoon nap. All that's missing is his teddy bear.
am i missing something with the opening post about goosen/warren/ toney and audley harrison? since when has warren had a piece of audley harrsions career ? as far as i know warren has zero hold on audley, in fact warren slates audley harrsion at every opurtunity he gets in the uk press . goosen might need to get on the phone to willy or klaus and get toney over to germany if he is willing to travel to get a fight v a european heavy.
