The rematch with Rahman was actually a very good step but too bad the ending was like that. Maybe a fight with Brewster could be good next if Brewster wins next.

A win over Toney does nothing for Wladimir at this point. Toney got called out back when he was a bit younger and when he needed it the most and he turned it down for obvious reasons, the man is good for nothing in the division but being a mascot, no accomplishments there whatsoever.

Good post. I think Goossen is too busy about getting his new star Paul Williams a rematch with Antonio Margarito these days, he doesn't have enough time to get Toney a good fight. And Toney, at age 40, doesn't have any time to waste. Since he showed some good improvements in his last fight against Rahman, I think he still has one good year in him, maybe two. He needs to fight as soon as possible, and he needs to keep fighting. Toney is best when he fights often, and it would help him to shake off his ring rust after the long lay-off (the 3 rds against Rahman weren't enough) and to get his weight down. IMO he should fight a series of journeymen and B-C level fighters, and fight on small cards like every 2-3 months. It worked for Rahman to get back in the mix and eventually get title fights time and time again, why wouldn't it work for Toney? And it would get him ranked again with the boxing organizations. After 3-4 such fights he could go on and fight Golota, that fight would get a lot of media attention, and why not as a title eliminator for the WBA? And if Ruiz or Chagaev hold the WBA strap by then, he has a very good chance of beating them. That's the way Toney should take now, and if Goossen can't get things done, yes I think he should switch to Don King, who btw promotes both Golota and Ruiz too.

As for Toney fighting Wlad, Toney needs a couple good fights first to get back in the rhythm, and he has to get down to at least 215lbs before he is competitive against Wlad. I'd still favour Wlad if it happened then, but Toney'd give him a tough, tough fight.

He never turned down a match against Wladimir it was Vitali. He was offer too little amount of money.

Toney has fought against very best heavyweights so it ridiculous to say he has accomplish nothing. He outclassed number two heavyweight Samuel Peter for example.

Try and find a James Toney thread without some stupid **** mentioning KFC, Burger King or McDonalds.

Seriously is that all you ****ing idiots can come up with? Can't say it was funny YEARS ago and it sure aint funny now!

    Back on point.....

Toney would MURDER Harrison but I would be suprised if Toney would take a fight of such insignificance. Harrison is fighting on the Khan 'PPV' and it's a fight that I can't see being made. I'm a bit suprised to see Warren mentioned. I didn't think he had any hold over Harrison?

    Sorry Mrs. Toney.

I don't know why people freak out when Burger King jokes are made. Toney has a good sense of humor and isn't above poking fun at himself....so what's with all the emotions?

That's right, he turned down Vitali when he was considered the biggest name in boxing at the time and let's face it, Toney NEEDED a major fight like that to cover up for the Ruiz embarrassment and not having ANY option at all at the time, let alone a major fight for a major title and the #1 spot against the man he constantly talked trash about over and over back then and STILL DOES.

Little money?, you can't be serious. Toney was offered $3million as far as I remember, the highest he was offered in the division and the most he could wish for considering there is absolutely no one else to offer him anything like that. Why the hell would he demand more money anyway?, he was in no position to demand nothing and actually needed anything thrown at him at that point yet he still refused that when he had 0 options to replace, if he had better/bigger options then sure, but no he didn't and not even close as you can see now.

People "freak out" because the fat jokes are just ******ed and worn out - like I alluded to in my post really.

Toney's sense of humour has nothing to do with idiotic fat jokes being made in EVERY Toney thread.

Hatton needs little encouragement taking the **** out of himself and also has a good sense of humour - yet you don't see his thread littered with "KFC / Burger King" do you? :deal

Yes, Toney should take the path you just described, fight often to shake the ring rust off. But I doubt it will happen, it does not look good for Toney right now, Dan is not putting the moves together he should.

A Golota would be interesting if it is an eleminator for a chamionship. Toney has still amazing skills but time is dramatically running out on him...

Welcome to today. So what if it's getting old, Toney is out of shape and cannot fight worth a **** anymore.

STOP MAKING EXCUSES. He's done. His future is in BURGER KING.
