Disagreed, they are close. Longevity goes to Hopkins , however, you may like Toney's heavyweight run more
Do you know why people overlook Toney's HW run? because he's tested positive for steroids more time then you've had hot meals.
Quality of opposition: Toney Accomplishments: Hopkins Consistency: About equal or Hopkins by a little bit {Both have losses to guys they had no business losing to.}
I can't see anyone coming up with an ATG list with 50 fighters above Hopkins...unless they've got their rose tinted spectacles on.
Yeah yeah answer my question i asked you before. Do you throw Evander Holyfields career in the trash? Or are you too naive to realize he had a little assistance?
Best wins: Trinidad Pascal Tarver Pavlik I'm sure there are more than 50 fighters with much better wins that that
2003 Evander Holyfield was finished, his previous fight against Byrd showed that (he looked like dog **** in the Ruiz fights aswell) then after the Toney fight he went on to get utterly schooled by Larry Donald of all people a fighter (like Toney) who would have gotten blown out of there if he was in with a prime Holyfield. Yet here you are wanting credit for wins of eurobum Jirov and a shot Holyfield :dead:dead
Agree that Toney has the better top wins, Mike Mccallum and Michael Nunn are better than any of Hopkins wins. However, Hopkins cleaned out a division and went on as a Champion until 47 years old, that all gets taken into account As an aside, who do you think would win between Hopkins and Toney at MW?
Thanks for beating me to it. Toney has a very good resume but definitely not on the level with B-Hopkins. Record for middleweight defenses. Plus he became the legit champ at light heavyweight.
I rank Pernell Whitaker higher then Hopkins but what are his best wins? Nelson McGirt Ramirez? There's more to an ATG ranking then resume alone.
Hopkins never got one gift not one, yet Toney had a shitload of dubious decisions go his way while Hopkins continues to get the short end of the stick when it comes to decisions in close fights.
Hopkins quality of opposition is not good enough to crack the top 50. He cleared out a division which based on accomplishments should allow him to be classed as an ATG, depending on your definition. It should be pointed out that he did not clear out a deep mw division the fact that his best win is Trinidad who was solid, but not great at mw speaks for itself Belts these days don't mean that much seeing as how there are so many of them. It's a solid accomplisment to become a belt holder against at 47 though I dont know
